When we arrived there were no clean towels and the complimentary shampoo etc were what the previous guests had left obviously. Our first night the Fire alarm went off, the guest's went outside but No members of staff were there until after the brigade arrived which we had phoned ourselves. Second day my full English was minus mushrooms because they had been dropped and there were none to replace them,. Eggs Benedict was off because of no hollandaise sauce [ which didn't arrive at all during our 3 day stay ], porridge was ordered in stead but that was tepid at best. My Texas bacon/cheese burger was minus the bacon as there was none. Our last night we ate else where. Maid service did not exist , even the landing never saw a hoover. How it ever earned 4 star status is beyond me. But the staff that we did see were friendly and courteous.

Wish we went somewhere else. If you enjoy nice food look elsewhere. Asked what was on the special menu, waitress said "ribs". So went with that, admittedly should have checked the board myself but ribs usually means rack of ribs. Food came it was a boring tomato pasta dish with some rib cartilage on top with barely any meat, tasted like it was a packet sauce. Massive disappointment. Also, their chips weren't cooked through, kids burger was just a burger with the stale bun made smaller, calamari wasnt fresh and was on a bed of old unfresh salad. Kids aaked for no cheese on garlic bread but came with cheese, also asked for normal peas but they came mushy. Nothing tasted freshly made. Didn't seem to care when I made them aware of the issue with the ribs. I never write reviews but this one was worthy of it

Disappointed with our Sunday roast. I am a big eater and the portions were too large with poor quality cold veg. Similar to a very poor carvery in a way. The toilets were dirty and the pub had a tired run down feel including the car park with litter and old white goods lying around. It could be amazing if run correctly as lovely location and nice thatched building etc.

Don't rush to go here. Plenty of pubs that are run properly. Food and staff poor.

Cosy pub with a good selection of alcohol and a nice range of food. Staff were also quite friendly.
