My favourite spot to find books, read, and stop for a coffee and cake. A huge store with pretty much every book you could want. Amazing finds for history, travel education, children’s books, classics, and latest fiction. The cafe is lovely with sofas and chairs. A small selection of drinks and teas available hot and iced. The hot chocolate is my favourite. Very easy to navigate and to find what you are looking for. Bathrooms and lifts available. Friendly staff and no waiting time for service. A must visit spot in Birmingham for book lovers.
We went to the Birmingham store to meet our favourite author, Chris Carter, who was absolutely amazing. The Waterstones colleague was extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. She worked so hard to make the experience wonderful. Well done to her.
A slice of literary heaven I found this store nestled in the heart of a bustling street, Immediately you'll be greeted by the comprehensive collection of carefully curated books, from hard sci-fi to philosophy and social science to teenage fiction, there is a genre for everyone. Furthermore, with five floors you can easily lose track of your time...and money. Pro The cafe is adorably cozy and honestly still the best way to make new friends. The scale of books on sale is absolutely insane, from Hegel to the Communist Manifesto. The manga selection is equally pretty good and even puts some other anime stores to shame. The musical selection featuring AC/DC to Josh Cash is pretty rad not going to lie. Genuinely pleasant staff, proper nerdy and stuff. cons The price of the coffee is somewhat expensive.
Good spot for checking emails. Waterstones wifi but was not able to connect. Ohone service is not great for ee, so I couldn't use the phone as the hotspot has charge points near the seats, so good
Great fun spot for books, and I especially love it that the poetry and fiction section is in the basement. It's like a hideout from the crowds of the bustling city centre. And the cafe is cozy and relaxing, you can get seats by the windows and watch the world go by without having to be lost in it.
The high street of Birmingham is filled with over-filled cafés and stops, and it's often difficult to find somewhere quiet to enjoy a drink. I took my chances with Waterstones' café, and was greeted with a friendly face before I was catered for. This is exactly what I expected from the café up one floor from the entrance, and it was bliss. If it wasn't evident from the photo, the hand-crafted latte art was perfect, and this was possible due to the care that came from steaming the milk. I was served by Liz who was attentive to hygiene procedures while steaming milk, ensuring it met the optimal temperature. The little extras that come with a cup of coffee are vital to having a perfect cuppa. Additions such as a saucer and teaspoon make more effort for staff, but go a long way for the consumer when they want to take their time sipping their coffee. And what a perfect time to do so after purchasing a new book, or enjoying the light ambience of pages turning in the environment around you. I had no doubts that Waterstones would know how to make a latte and I am not surprised with what I was served, as the reputable high-street book store continues to upkeep its relaxed yet professional vision. I will be permanently sitting down for a drink when my friends flick through the latest books from now on, enjoying a sip of serenity in peace.
What a place! The cafe is so nice and comfortable, and the staff are so lovely. Coffee is really smooth and made with care - and all floors are clean, spacious and full of literacy. Love this place, definitely check it out!
4 bookstore 3.5 cafe The coffee shop is a good place with natural light and good seats. Great if you want to stay without pressure. The drinks are good.
Loved this store so much. I was very interested in the ancient history, as well as theology and philosophy sections, which really piqued my interest, they had so much just under these categories, it took me 40 minutes just to pick what I wanted. If I could've I would have gotten a lot of books. Even the board games and puzzles had me tossing up whether I wanted to spend a lot of money on getting all of them.
Very rude girl staff! I was working on an important email and later I can enjoy my coffee. So I opened my laptop first and then she came saying I either order from cafe or leave!!! I tried telling her that I will be for sure coming to the bar and order but she kept asking me to leave!!!! will NEVER come back again!
