Great sound system and lighting. The toilets could be cleaner smelling. Good bar staff but could do with more to reduce the queues. Atmosphere is different for each event. Door staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely one of Leeds best intimate night clubsService: 4/5
Had a really great time at the Varsity Darts last night; atmosphere and bar staff were fantastic. However, this was undermined by a very rude and overly-aggressive bouncer. My friend was kicked out for "purposefully spilling his beer onto others in the crowd", despite another person jolting my friends elbow, causing it to happen. The majority of people in there may I note were purposefully spilling drinks over others. One member of the security team accepted this, and my friend was fully cooperative and was then warned if it occurred again he'd be removed, which was fine. Despite this, another bouncer suddenly appeared as soon as my friend was about to walk back towards the crowd and an overly-aggressively bouncer pushed him out despite clearly being unaware of the situation at hand. I attempted to protest this, and asked for CCTV footage of the incident, but apparently they did "nothing wrong and that my friend was allegedly resisting." The bouncers are clearly out of their depth, and I was then removed for simply attempting to have a conversation with them about this. Generally very rude staff that clearly enjoy abusing their power and whom I believe "pick and choose" who is to be removed from the venue. Great shame as I have always enjoyed my time spent here.
Went to the Stoner gig, staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great night and will definitely look out for bands playing there in the future. I'm old school and have read some of the negatives, not sure what some people expect from a venue. I'm there for the music not to spend hours in the toilet looking at myself in the mirror.
I honestly don't understand the relatively low score for this venue: I saw the superlative Franky Wah here recently and had a great time. The security staff were reasonable and helpful, the crowd good natured, and the sound and lighting excellent. Great value too. Looking forward to returning soon!Atmosphere: 5/5
£5 for a bottle of water is criminal. Bar staff would serve quicker if they weren’t all on their phonesFood: 1/5
Some very snotty young bar staff on last night. Also charging £5 for a bottle of water is taking the piss, just pure greed.Service: 2/5
Was really looking forward to seeing Wilkinson last night, however, my friend wasn't allowed in despite having a citizens card which is a valid form of ID. Bouncers were really rude and unhelpful, we were trying to speak to him to work out what was going on and they were shouting at us. We didn't end up seeing Wilkinson, what a wasted night and tickets. Won't be booking anymore events here again.
Overbooked like crazy, couldn’t move to get to the toilet or the exit never mind dance even at the very back, quite scary and not safe at all, had to leave after 1 hour as worried about getting crushed. Apparently this is standard for this venue, will be avoiding in future
Event was beyond amazing Azyr and no issues with bouncers etc, it was SO busy though you could not move at all to get anywhere, such a shame because the event + staff were amazing but definitely oversold.Food: 3/5
Went to see Daft Funk concert with my boyz. Great gig, venue was OK.
