A lovely Anglican Cathedral. Look out for their weekly lunchtime recitals on Tuesdays. Very welcoming staff and volunteers, some beautiful stained glass and art on the walls. A recommended visit.
What an absolute stunning interior from the Rood Screen, to the ceilings, extensive stained glass and the tombs and monuments inside. I visited at around 8.20am, was surprised to see it open opening time was 8am and for people.lile me who want to marvel at the interior going that early is worth it a I had the Cathedral to my self. They also had a selection of guide books for sale which help to support the Cathedral.
This is a such a beautiful building with and amazing atmosphere. They have different events on throughout the year and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. They have a lovely little cafe, where the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Its perfect to sit and contemplate or say a prayer and you can also light a candle and ask for a prayer to be said in service which is so thoughtful. I have been going as a kid and it's is so amazing at Christmas time.
Delighted to finally get to see one of the 3 cathedrals in the Diocese of Leeds. Thanks to the Dean for the guided tour. A lovely place of worship, welcome and reflection for the whole community.
Went to Wakefield cathedral to sign condolence book on the day of queen's funeral. The Queen had visited Wakefield cathedral on more than one occasion. I've grown up with this cathedral lived in Wakefield all my life my parents were married here. The cathedral is beautiful although I preferred it when it had the old pues and not free standing chairs. There's also a little cafe and shop
Fantastic cathedral. The ornate stone carved ceilings and two beautiful sets of organ pipes. The quiet sanctuary set inside a beautiful wooden carved area. Disabled access is fantastic. Thete is also a cafe with outdoor seating. Also good toilets facilities and numerous different events to see or take part in...
Very welcoming, a lovely mix of old medieval stone building and carvings along with some beautiful modern craftsmanship, such as the cross-legged Madonna and amazing pulpit. Excellent cafe and shop next door.
Visited this evening for the Gaia event, absolutely amazing. Their was a long wait time earlier in the day but we turned up about 6ish on the Saturday evening and were straight in. There were a few families around but plenty of space. It’s an amazing event in a beautiful setting. A plus being that the toilets are open so if you are big and pregnant like myself you can make the most of the free toilets
A peaceful and historical church to visit. Beautiful stain glass windows and also two lovely ladies who volunteer their time to welcome you once you enter. They are very helpful on the information on the Cathedral and the surrounding areas. I loved it there.
