Popped in for something to eat, good was good, would have been five stars but a mix up in who had ordered what caused a couple of minutes delay in getting my food.
Excellent wine deal at the moment, 25% off 6 bottles or more, same or mixed. Can't beat that offer.
As always the staff are always helpful and cheery. The Newbury store is stocked well. I can usually find the items I need plus extras.
Nice store, well stocked maybe a touch more expensive but good value.
Do not buy reading glasses from Waitrose. I purchased a piar no longer than two months ago and upon them falling apart and taking them back to the store, I was asked for the tag that they came with. Not again!!
If I could give a 0 star I would!!!! I visited the Newbury Waitrose yesterday 05/08/22 with my boyfriend and my sister. We decided to come to the store for a few drinks and some food which isn’t unusual for us as we live very close. As we were looking around the store I noticed we were being followed by multiple staff members. This isn’t the first time this has happened There were staff members pretending to stock shelves next to my boyfriend and then as soon as he would move to a different aisle the staff members would too. At this point all of us felt very uncomfortable but we decided to carry on with our shop so we could leave. A moment later the man in a white shirt named mark who had been following us around the store came up to us and asked to see all three of our id’s, in which we replied ‘ that’s fine we will show you our id’s but isn’t that usually something you would do when we go to checkout?’ Mark replied with ‘ if I have a suspicion that anyone buying alcohol is under 25 then I can ask for there id’. bearing in mind only me and my boyfriend were purchasing alcohol so we showed him our ID’s then he insisted that he sees my sisters ID too in which she replied ‘ I didn’t bring my id as I’m not buying alcohol ‘ and then mark says ‘ well none of you can purchase alcohol if I don’t see all three of your id’s. At this point all three of us are completely embarrassed. We asked mark whether he does this to every customer that looks under 25 and he said yes. My sister called up her boyfriend to go back to our house and get her id, as we were waiting we watched over at the alcohol aisle and watched as numerous customers who ‘looked under 25’ had managed to pick up alcohol and finish there shopping trip without being followed around the store and harassed so therefore we were extremely angry and made to feel like we weren’t good enough to shop here. I feel as if it’s to do with the way we dress, my boyfriend wears tracksuits all the time and anytime we’ve come into waitrose we have been followed and made to feel like we’re doing something wrong. I am absolutely disgusted with the way we were treated and i hope and pray that this embarrassing situation never happens to anyone ever again.
Staff is always happy to help and the professionalism of their help is greatly appreciated. Excellent variety of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as fish. Good variety of "free from" and the best gluten free bread in the market, from their own brand. You can also find freshly daily made sushi, quite tasty. Since their last renovation, you have a fair amount of John Lewis items and some small games for children.
Lovely little store. Always friendly staff and great produce. Often some good deals to be had on wine around this time of year. Especially if you can combine them with the myWaitrose vouchers. Cheers!
It's a supermarket, but a nice one. Staff friendly, atmosphere very pleasant. Added John Lewis section. Cafe still not open, as of Feb 10th. Getting worried they'll shut it, as it's one of the main reasons we shop there. Update 14th April ... Cafe is open Update 16th June ... Still nice supermarket Update 19th August ... Ditto No change
Well stocked foodhall and pleasant staff.
