W5 is located at the SSE Arena in Belfast and it has recently had a renovation. W5 itself is an interactive science centre with attractions for the entire family to enjoy. It’s located over 5 floors and the best way to see what there is would be to go to the website. There are science projects, information on the planet, the power of the wind and the sea, how to fly a plane, and how an F1 car works. I recently attended the W5 late show which was Halloween themed and it was an excellent evening out. There is loads of parking outside in the SSE Arena car park and there are places to eat also in the arena. Everything you would expect for such a large venue.
Visited here on a very busy Sunday with 3 children aged between 6-17. Easy to find, ample car parking available and very reasonable considering what's on offer. Although very busy we had lots of time to see just about everything, it's spread out over a few floors and different area's are themed. There's toilets on every floor too and a fabulous shop on the ground floor, there is a coffee dock but we didn't use it. Favourite activities on the day included the climbing structure, News desk, grafitti board and tug of war. There is an area for small children which we had booked for our 6 year old but she chose to stay in the main area, it would be more suitable up to age 5! We spent about 3 hours here just after arriving in Belfast and had a great time, would highly recommend.
There was plenty of exhibits and fun interactive things to go. It was a bit busy but nothing out of the ordinary. You could always find a free area so waiting time was minimal. The build your own race car bit wasn't really up to much and there was a bit broken on one exhibit and another was out of order. Other than that a good day with both physical and mental activities a plenty
Interesting place for entertaining the kids, a lot to try and experiencing. The ticket prices were very reasonable given the amount of activities to try out. The admission are free for kids that are younger than 3, and there is a big playing area for them as well.
Tons of great activities that kids will love and learn from. The place was overrun by several school groups when we visited, who screamed and shouted with little oversight from the adults. The harbour views are wonderful.Visited onWeekday
Fun day out with the children. Great themes covering all major topics. The only complaint would be the line for limited food, rather eat before or after and just go there to enjoy the experience.
Always loved here its changed a bit over the years seems to have took a more Montessori route with the play areas , kids enjoyed it could do with better food options cafes pretty basic and over priced better to bring your own lunch. Still a place my family will always visit so much to explore and learnVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
What a great crack we had today at W5 with my 4 year old nephew. He didn't even managed to see and experience everything because his legs stopped listening to him after soft playground. I could have spend there another few hours... and im nearly 40ty!! Absolute must have to experience in Belfast. Bit pricey, but harbour views included.
Our 9 year old loves W5. The science shows/demos where brilliant and not to be missed. We spend hours here everytime we visit. Snacks and beverage selections are quite limited so I'd advise you to bring your own.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
