Independent menswear store selling wares by Comme des Garcons, Margaret Howell, Universal Works, Norse Projects and Henrik Vibskov.
Housed in a 19th century cow shed, in an historical lane, the ethos and success of creating an environment for our customers to relax and discuss not only our products but also music, literature or cultural events, gave us the confidence to request that our relationship with Comme des Garcons be extended indefinitely. This gave us the opportunity to bring Margaret Howell to the store as a complimentary brand – her classically British offerings giving us the feeling of something closer to home. We also brought New Yorker, Adam Kimmel, to Scotland at this time, as huge admirers of his work.
Then followed our decision to make the store fully menswear in June 2010 – in break with Guerrilla Store precedent.
The store is owned by David Mullane, one of the most influential figures in Scottish and British Fashion for over 40 years. David, one time Merchandise Director of The Warehouse - a hugely influential store based in Glasgow - has been central to the development of style in Scotland. As the buyer who wrote the first ever order for Ann Demeulemeester in Britain, not only did he introduce the other Antwerp Six designers at their launch in 1986, he also brought Comme des Garcons, Yohji Yamamoto and Jean Paul Gautier amongst many other, now famous names, to the country. His contributions were immortalised in 2011 in the book “The Inventors of Tradition”.
With a small but highly focussed team, we aim to continue providing high quality personal service through our in-depth product knowledge, focussing on the product-driven brands which inspire us.
We hope to communicate our beliefs and views on all things cultural both through our store and online. If that means a customer leaves with a product or simply a smile, we will be happy to help either way…
