Theatre Cinema has comfortable, reclining seats with lots of legroom and good views from every seat. The sound quality is amazing, with clear voices and great surround sound that makes you feel part of the movie. Together, these features make watching movies there a fantastic experience.
22/09/2024 Very polite helpful staff. Amazing recliners where you can sleep comfortably during a boring movie that I did yesterday. Only to wake up and find the guy sitting next snoring. Such is the comfort level of the recliners and pathetic level of movies in market
Watched a film in screen 7 - small screen. Picture quality was dire, needs a new bulb, was far too dark and audio wasn't great, could hear a speaker popping with certain sounds. Was also like an oven, far too hot. Fix the air con. Won't be returning.
We visit this cinema quite frequently. At least on three separate occasions in the past year, the picture quality has been very poor: dark and indistinct, not helped by the ceiling lights not being dimmed sufficiently. Apparently this is due to old projector bulbs being used beyond the point they should be replaced presumably to same Vue money.
We’ve just got in to our screen room, after the cleaners took ages to clean our screen. After sitting down, we immediately noticed what looks like some sort of orange smear on our table attached to our seats. This actively put off the person sitting in the seat, but luckily the cleaners didn’t mind coming in to clear it up. Members of staff were nice, and they were apologetic for the mess.
Went to the Vue on Friday,10-45 nice place staff were very friendly and helpful. The guy on the refreshments was quick and professional and the lady who tells you what screen, was great even offered to look after our drinks while we both went to use the toilet. Comfy seats and very clean. Definitely cinema of choice now.
I went to this cinema to see Fast X. The movie start time was 10:10 pm, I got there as early as possible. Bought popcorn and a drink - the vendor was super nice and helpful. I went in and sat in the cinema hall at 10:10 pm. The movie did not start until almost 11 pm. The cinema spent about 45 minutes advertising all sorts of movies and products that didn't interest me. Also, the popcorn and coke were overpriced. Other than that, the cinema was alright.
The first showing of Alien Romulus is my last visit to Vue Portsmouth. The picture was so dark that most of the film lost all it's detail and was a strain on the eyes to work out what was going on. I had seen trailers on social media and the picture quality was fabulous, not at Vue though. The opening sequence is pretty important but was completely lost in the dark presentation. I heard other audience members asking what just happened? It seems that the 'projectionist' I believe movies are on a usb stick now, not actual film just presses 'play' and doesn't bother with simple brightness or contrast. Also the lights are not turned off when the movie starts anymore so I had to wear my cap to avoid the bright lights directly above me. Very poor cinema experience. Anyways, I was cheated out of £9.99 and will not go back to Vue again. Shame because the chairs are lovely.
The reclining seats were very clean and comfortable, and thats about all positive comments i have about this cinema. The bathrooms were filthy, the self pour drink stations were poorly managed and dirty. And the top left corner of the screen in room 9 was creased which annoyed me throughout the entirety of the showing. I recommend looking for a different cinema in Portsmouth
My wife and I used to watch a film here at least once a month but when we complained about one showing having sound so loud it hurt our ears we were told there was nothing they could do. When I said I would complain to head office the manager interrupted me and asked us to leave despite me being perfectly polite. We won’t be returning.
