Incredible food, just the way Mrs Patel used to make it better! A true, delicious, authentic taste. I once was fortunate enough to live next door to and be close friends with a family that had moved to the area from India and from that point it ruined English take away for me.. Vittles is such a crisp, refreshing taste! When I saw the selection available on their order menu I had to go for a sample of each and my goodness what a delight it was! If you're visiting Cribs this humble home restaurant is worth stopping by for, excellent food, full size portions and a price that competes with buying a meal from the supermarkets!! Truly fantastic!
An ultimate ripoff from vittles, called chefs special worth £6.99, with half cooked shrimp.
Amazing food, just have discovered this place, perhaps the best Indian food in Bristol. I would say, I have good expertise in this cousine for many years. South Indian dishes are real treasure among all typical Indian takeaways, have ordered home delivery twice and cant wait to go there and enjoy the meal being served! Five stars
This is real Indian food and not the Bangladeshi take on it that most "Indian" restaurants provide. Great vegetarian dishes and Kerala-inspired menu. It's a no-frill joint with variable waiting skills. Always friendly, but sometimes needing a bit of help! The food is always great and served in generous portions. No alcohol licence, but the local shops sell chilled beer. If you enjoyed the food while travelling in India, you will love this honest, friendly place.
Popped in here late one evening after wanting to try it for a while, staff really friendly and helpful offered good insight to the menu. Food is home cooked south Indian. Nan breads were one of the best I've had in a while. lots of food at very affordable prices.
Ordered food tonight and it turned out to be undercooked, stale and completely below standard. They used to serve good food but not anymore. The tandoori chicken was undercooked, biryani was stale, the parathas were almost like heat and eat types and butter chicken was pathetic to say the least. Extremely disappointed !! Please avoid.
One of the best South Indian restaurant in Bristol. I love their Dosai and Kothu parotta. It would be better if they keep the taste consistent. It is like one time the food/ambiance is really good and the next time very disappointing. Also, they should improve their heating system, and do something about the restaurant's smell, not sure if it is something to do with the toilets being close to dining or the over head fan heaters.
Went with 3 friends on a lazy Wednesday evening. The food was really good. The queen of the evening was surely the Lamb Biriyani. Curried pieces of succulent goat meat with biriyani rice. The spices were authentic - real star anise, cardamom along with the layer of fried onions and cashew nuts. they use a special rice Iam told not available in stores. Not greasy at all. We just kept eating. The accompanying Raita and curry were excellent. Improvements.. Hmmm maybe a little less of the mint? The Chicken tandoor was merely a court attendant in comparison. Not bad though. Good chicken well marinated and fried up. The chicken need not be so fried merely tandoor baked and there wasnt a need for the red color. Note though not a bone remained. The plain naan was amazing real tandoor cooked, thick like a pizza yet easy on the mouth - no grease too! One of the best We also had king fish fried - that was ok. Could have been a bit spicier but at least the real flavor of fish shone through. The Lamb varuval disappeared no sooner than it arrived. I should have had a bigger share. For sweets we had payasam, gulab jamun and mango lassi which we shared in enjoyment. All in all I really liked the food. I got back some lamb biriyani for the family which also duly disappeared Service was friendly, fast but not obtrusive. Not too many people about and reasonable music
Been looking for a place that does authentic south Indian cuisine since returning form a work trip to India. This place was superb, I took the wife and kids and there was something for everybody. The Dosa was amazing and the staff friendly, all at a very reasonable price !
This is a very strange establishment. I visited with a group of friends who wanted the authentic Indian experience; what we got was a wait of almost a whole hour for mediocre food, despite being the only patrons. The venue was far too hot and a few of us had to step outside during our meal to cool down. Despite being the only people in attendance, we were not waited on. We were only provided with a single round of drinks non-alcoholic only and so we quickly made it through the few bottles of room-temperature water placed on our table. For any further requirements, we had to go and seek out a member of staff. We also had to locate the waitress when we wanted to pay, after realising nobody was coming to check on us.
