One of our favourite bakeries in London for a reason. Located in a peaceful neighbourhood it’s a go to for an afternoon sweet pickup dessert and coffee. Would totally recommend their egg yolk sea salt cookies and cupcakes too! Need to try more of their warm and savoury dishes.
American-style cakes are hard to come by in London bakeries in my experience, so this place was such a joy. I travelled all the way from South London to visit Violet and I was not disappointed. Their oat and Californian cookies were also glorious - so chewy. The chocolate sponge cupcake with the violet icing is one of the best cakes I've eaten this year.
Lovely bakery in the heart of East London, a lot of character and very good coffee and food. Maybe some of the items in the savoury menu are slightly overpriced but in general is a great spot. Kimchi toastie is a must and so are their baked goods. The location is also gorgeous even better if sunny
Nice and quiet cafe. Their cupcakes were really good, one of the best I had, very light and tasty in the same time. Cookies were good as well. Had a coffee as will which was good. The options were limited but I would like to try more things in the future.
I came all the way from the US to visit this bakery, and it was even better than I expected! I had the green onion toastie, ham toast, egg yolk chocolate chip cookie, citrus oatmeal cookie, and plum cupcake. Everything was DELICIOUS! I'm certainly coming back to buy treats for everyone back home. I'd give 6 stars if I could!
Delicious cakes. I absolutely loved the fact that this venue is in a very quiet road between Hackney and Dalston. Loved also the understated decor and the focus on cakes. I was very pleased with my Amalfi lemon elderflower cake. it was delicious and the cake was the perfect consistency. My other 'love at first bite' was their chocolate cupcake. I usually dislike chocolate in cake but this one didn't have such a decadent after-flavour and it was nice and fudgey at the same time. Loved the flowers on the cakes. Looked so fresh. Only leaving 4 stars as it would be great to have more flexibility over ordered cakes with the icing. Thanks!
Truly wanted to give this place five stars - this cute little bakery has delicious pastries, including moist cupcakes, delectable cookies and gooey toasties. Unfortunately, while the server on the register was very nice, she was not able to recommend things from the menu. And the one who gave us our takeaway didn’t call our name loudly enough for us to hear but then complained that she’s been looking for us, though we were sitting right next to the door. It was also unclear why we got things in takeaway packaging at all when we told them we’re sitting outside, seems very wasteful. I would still recommend this place as I like to support small local businesses, but would suggest that they place a higher emphasis on service in the future!
Amazing, delicious and fresh cakes, best I have had in London from a bakery that has been there for several years. And great coffee too! The cakes of which there are variety can also meet dietary requirements and are well labelled. They also cater for special occasions. All in All recommended!
Underwhelming. The cake I ordered was Salted caramel :: yet no caramel or salted flavours came through. Me and my partner are both foodies and also very good in the kitchen, perhaps our hope & expectations were too high to allow an experienced baker to make the cake for us. I don’t recommend Violet cakes.
The best cake shop in East London. I would really recommend the classic violet cup cake, or the vegan vanilla sponge cake. On occassion, violet bake a wonderful rhubarb cupcake which is 10/10! I also had a birthday cake baked by Violet as a present, and the presentation and of course flavour, were just brilliant. If you are a fan of cakes or coffee, this is a must try!
