Stayed here after a long drive. Arrived quite late and was greeted with a smile. Friendly staff and customers made me feel very welcome. The room was clean, modern and warm. Excellent stay for a very reasonable price too. If I’m on the area again I would definitely stay again .
Very basic, but you get what you pay for. Bathroom not brilliant. Dirty skirtings. Strong drain smell , generally not as clean as it should of been. Staff lovely but unfortunately we wont be returning.Rooms: 2/5
It wasn't clean, the heater couldn't be switched off completely, so it was like in the tropics, there was no WiFi like the description said, the front door was locked over night, so the only access after hours and when leaving in the morning was through the icy, snowy and slippery backyard, parking wasn't available, it was all used up by the pub guests, none was reserved for hotel guests which meant parking down the road on a public spot.
They fitted us in at short notice which was great, however we mentioned we were coming with a baby and seemed to be put in the room above the bar. There was pounding music on a Wednesday night, which isn’t great when you’re trying to get a baby to sleep. Why would the family room be above the bar? You’d expect it on Friday, not midweek. Also, the hotel is described as seaham which it’s not, seaham is a 20 minute drive. However, the lady checking us in was friendly and helpful.
I had 4 nights here and would come again. I was warmly welcomed and had an equally warm room, necessary with the snow, hail and rain in the area. Hot shower helped after days of sightseeing. I was put in a twin beds room, but I found the beds narrow, more child width rather than adult width. Incredibly comfortable, though. I found it an ideal base for my stay. Thank you for helping make my stay so wonderful
A warm welcome from the staff at the start and whilst showing around the Inn. A clean well present room with all the needs of the customerRooms: 5/5
Stayed overnight for a wedding at a venue nearby. Rooms clean and comfortable, courtesy tray and kettle in room. However could not pick up keys till after four which wasn’t the most convenient as the wedding breakfast was at three thirty so we had to leave the venue in order to pick up keys as no one was there to act as reception after 11.15 however the staff in the bar staff were friendly and helpful and I’d use the inn again if I had occasion to stay in the area. Just as an aside no breakfast available there but we had a lovely one at the Dancing Betty on dalton park shopping centre. Also Taxis not the easiest to get on a Friday night as very few companies operate after 5 pm
We had a very comfortable night in a spotlessly clean room for four on our way up to Scotland. The inn is set back from the road in a quiet area of this former coal-mining village. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, allowing us to eat our take-out meal in the pool room behind the bar. We enjoyed a game of pool "on the house" too!
The room was big and clean and directly above the pub. The pub was lively with good music and and and closed down at 22:00. The staff and locals were so kind and friendly to us visitors. They even loaned us money to order food and have it delivered since the restaurant would not take credit card. The best was how dog friendly everybody was. Loved our stay !!!
Great little find, basic room with very friendly staff and locals - Thanks for having us!! :Rooms: 4/5
