Great pub it's a proper pub with open fires and a great friendly place to have a beer or two or three. Lots of seating inside and out. Really cosy you should try it.
Until today 1/5/19 I've not been in here for many years. Great pint of Sam's handpulled, friendly staff and customers. Will be back soon! £2.00 a pint, what's not to like? Update 04/03/24 Changed? Oh yeah! No handpumps, no friendly staff, not been cleaned for a while, in desperate need of new management. I will not be calling again. Now Zero stars, maybe minus one.
Classic country pub. Sam Smith's drinks. Good cheap beer, no music and cash only.
Sadly Sam Smith pubs are missing the trick with their pubs and probably losing business like water through a seive. Known for their very competitively priced drinks they've now ditched that concept too. Agree the pandemic has hit hard and agree prices may have needed to increase but 40% seems far too much. The concept of banning mobile devices and the inability to pay a drinks bill other than by cash is basically not moving with the times and is pre 1990's and 30 years out of date. There's not enough about this drinking establishment to entice us back. This chain of pubs is doomed unless they act quickly to diversify and attract clientele.
Rubbish pub! Called in passing as wanted a cup of coffee. Asked at bar for coffee and girl went in kitchen as I went go toilet. Emerged from loo and told can't do coffee - or tea for that matter. All I could have was alcohol or a soft drink, so chose the latter. Sat down and got out my mobile phone to read my emails - phone on silent and not making or receiving calls. Panic stations and consternation ensued! Mobile phones are banned by order of the brewery - Sam Smiths. Was told I had to put it away or go outside, so I went outside into the January cold, drank up and quickly left! What an awful pub!! Never again.
The place to go for chat relaxation and some good drinks at value for money prices. No TV no music but full of lovely people. Chat in peace. Exchange views. Dog friendly. People friendly and most importantly beautiful people who run the place. Always roaring open fires on cold winter nights. Never go in winter time without layers that you can peel off as the sauna conditions are just great when it's cold outside.
No phones allowed in pub,Service: 5/5
Felt really uncomfortable at this 'pub', was like something out of an old horror movie, All the regulars went silent and stared at us walking in and didn't speak a word until we sat down. They were looking at each other sniggering to each other under their breaths. League of gentlemen definitely sprang to mind "this is a local shop for local people"
Nice pint of Sam Smith's not the singer thingy stout, but needs a hell of a lot of TLC to get it back looking good
Not been for many years still a good pint. Still the same. Not much change really still a decent pint .No nothing has changed except they now take card payments.
