When is a string and 2 pieces of wood not a string and two.pieces of wood? A: When its a 25 quid Utility photo hanger of course! Everyday things that just look different but arent Everyday tat simply mythologised, making you feel part of an experiment in human gullability. Oh yes! The Funny greeting cards where the joke is on you for buying it. However they sell these wondrous gel pens that I love. Pricey but hey thats the part of being trendy right? huh huh

I ordered a print from Utility after seeing it in the Bold Street shop over Christmas however when it arrived I did not open it immediately because I hadn't ordered a frame and thought it'd be safer in the cardboard envelope until I did. When I did open it to frame it I noticed it was quite badly damaged both in the corner and in a large crease across the page, I tried it in the frame to see if it was noticeable and unfortunately it was. There's no way it'll be hung up in the condition it is in. I contacted Utility to let them know about this certain they would offer to replace the print as I believed that was the sort of business they were. Unfortunately I was pointed towards the T&Cs saying that because I didn't let them know in 24 hours it was basically tough luck. I called them to try and get across my disappointment but they were not moved and refused to help. Independent retailers like this often point to their customer service as setting them apart from online retailers in order to justify charging more for the same items. I definitely agree with the principle however when the customer service does not match up to the claim it makes me wonder whether it is worth bothering supporting local businesses like this at the expense of my bank balance. I wont be ordering online off them again in case I miss any damage within 24 hours (the shortest warranty I've ever known!) and will think twice before ordering in store. So disappointing.
