The University of Central Lancashire stands out as a truly welcoming institution, where beauty and orderliness shape the environment both inside and outside the campus. The grounds are not only visually appealing but also reflect a sense of calm and inspiration that supports learning and personal growth.nnEqually impressive is the seamless coordination and teamwork among staff and management. Their collaborative spirit ensures that students and visitors alike experience a well-organized, supportive atmosphere. Accessibility is thoughtfully prioritized, making the university open and inclusive to all.nnAbove all, the hospitality extended by the university community creates a warm and inviting culture - one that makes everyone feel valued and at home. It is this blend of environment, organization, teamwork, accessibility, and genuine care that makes UCLan a remarkable place to study, work, and grow.
I am studying archaeology and anthropology here, and the course is an absolute joke. It's all juvenile rubbish like making posters and social media. Since archaeology is now a science, it should be taken no seriously. I can't believe I gave up my flat, a good job, and being away from my cat ,pets are not allowed in student accommodation to do this. There is hardly any labwork, and the closest we get to learning something that will be useful for our careers is the forensic anthropology module and field archaeology. I want to go into osteo-archaeolohy, so I am going to do an online diploma course on that subject, because I am not doing my Masters here. I am now in the second year, at the end of the first semester, and I don't see it getting any better. I just got 48% for a stupid poster we had to do, and I am annoyed and disappointed. I would have preferred an essay, report, or a PowerPoint presentation to have been the assignment, where I know I could have done well. We stopped doing kiddy things like posters in the third year of high school. I wouldn't have expected it to happen at university. Okay, an information poster that isn't an assignment would be great, and a welcome distraction, but to have as a requirement for getting my degree? I just want this next year and a half to go quickly, so I can graduate, and do my Masters at a better uni, where a course like this is taken more seriously. The uni itself is okay, but if it wasn't I would go somewhere else for my final year.
I studied MSc Pharmacy at this uni and graduted in 2019. I had such a great time here, the staff are friendly and always willing to help and the campus is huge. I loved the fact the library was open 24/7 too. I'm happy I went to this uni! Looking forward to visiting Preston to see what it looks like now.
Very unhelpful and rude. I wouldn’t recommended anyone applying here. Very cold over email don’t offer any alternatives/options you have, or even listen to what you are saying. My college tutor himself said they were very arrogant and unwelcoming over the phone.
I saw the course I'm interested in was available in Clearing, so I used their live chat in the morning and gave all my details. About an hour later, someone from admissions called me and said I was eligible to proceed to the next step and would receive an email within twenty minutes to invite me to an interview. They advised that the invite wasn't guaranteed as it was on a first come, first served basis, so after checking my email for the next half hour and not receiving an email from them, I assumed I was not going to be invited.nnTo my surprise, I received an email at 17:05 telling me my interview was at 17:30. A few hours to prepare for interview is not enough, let alone twenty-five minutes. I had gone out, so I had to rush back to my hotel room to be able to do it. I have anxiety, so this put me on edge and I didn't do very well in the interview as a result. It was disappointing as I had advised during the live chat that I have some health problems, but as with the first time I interviewed with them, this was apparently ignored.nnThe interview was scheduled for ten minutes and very rushed. I could tell the interviewer was stressed and I didn't get a chance to properly answer their questions. For example, they asked me to state three things about a topic, but I only got a chance to state and elaborate on two before they moved on.nnIt was a disappointing, stressful experience.
