I attended Moorland School from April 1991 to July 1996 as a boarder. I can't say I loved every second, there were of course ups and downs but no worse than my home friends seem to have experienced being with their parents through this time. I have very fond memories of the school and the stunning surrounding area and being a forces child I will always consider Moorland as my first home. I never felt upset at being dropped off by my parents, the staff and fellow boarders were my family. We laughed, cried, grew up and grew stronger together. Life at Moorland taught me to be independent, it gave me the confidence to deal with the things life has thrown at me. The teachers were all wonderful, sure there were a few personality clashes and some favourites, but they were always around to support us with work, encouraging us to do our best. The smaller class sizes gave them the opportunity to help everyone individually. The matrons were like having an extra mum or two which of course is both good and bad depending on your viewpoint! :- We always had weekend activities, be that a walk in the hills, a trip to the swimming pool or playing on crash mats in the hall. I note a few comments mentioning the rules, I recall wondering about the purpose of some but they've done me no harm and it is now obvious that they were there to protect us and prepare us for our future. If the Moorland environment is anything like it used to be I would highly recommend.
I was a pupil at Moorlands as a boarder between 1972 until 1975 my education was excellent and I was able to achieve good O levels that allowed me to pursue a career in the NHS. I enjoyed my time at Moorlands, I would have preferred to be a day pupil, but despite this boarding was fine and allowed me to establish friendships that I still maintain. I believe Moorlands equipped me with the skills to live an Independant life and made me a much more rounded individual.
Our son loves the school; and has thrived since staring there. Small classes, they pay a lot of attention to the kids and their learning styles and ensuring they can engage them
I attended Moorland between '73 and '76. The school rules seem quite draconian. My hair has fallen out since! :-
Not worth the money...showers doesn’t even work in the boarding house and school rules are not fair towards pupil
The school start running down since 2015, so bad. Teacher and student are so lovely tho :
ABSOLUTELY CRAP SCHOOL.
