I'm disabled and until early last year I was paying for my parking. A kind parking attendant told. My daughter disabled people don't have to pay as long as your in a disabled space showing your badges. You go to the barrier press the button say your disabled and have a badge, go to the car park and on the ground floor there is a little office they will take your details and then until your blue badge runs out you don't have to pay any where on hospital grounds as far as I'm away. Brilliant Royal Stoke University Hospital for helping the disabled in the community. Josie
If you'd like a space you need to get there a minimum of 30 minutes in advance of your appointment. If you don't live far away and can walk there, I'd recommend this option! It is chaotic, with people parking in areas that shouldn't be and making it dangerous to drive passed. I stayed there for just over 20 minutes and paid £1.90.
ANPR on entry. Pay on leave. If you don't want to walk for miles, you pay and it's expensive, especially if you are visiting every day. Other than that it's well kept. Make sure you drive close to the barrier in exit after paying as the camera sometimes does not see your licence plate...
It’s the kind of carpark that keeps letting everyone in even when there isn’t any spaces, you spend 30 minutes driving round and round or getting beeped at if you pull to one side to wait for a space to barely make your appointment whilst already wracking up your parking charges before even finding a space. Paying over £4 for your time there is also very annoying if not disappointing. Didn’t realise the car parks were there to pay for consultants salaries…
The hospital is great but the parking situation is ridiculous. You have to arrive an hour early just to search for a parking place. The Lyme building in particular is a pain I'm not that mobile and there no nearby parking. If I could get there by public transport I would but I can't. Really is not acceptable.
It is nearly impossible to get a car park space at 2pm visiting hours The car park charges you from entry so, you will get charged or fined if you don't even manage to park up?? Absolutely terrible and at times when you need support. Massive let down to a great hospital. Why do that!!!!!
Let me start by saying the service from all the staff was amazing my only gripe is the cost of parking. I hate being ripped off and this certainly happens at the hospital. Disgusting how ill people can be ripped off just because they are ill
Went on a Sunday the carpark was full and would have been expensive had we found a space. We were able to park on a road some distance away and walk, something not every one could do.
Like this hospital. Its so nice and bright and spacious as you walk into. Nice n clean and free face masks, even when you move around the hospital its still nice n bright. This is very important to me as I am in electric wheelchair, also suffer from anxiety and depression. The only bad thing is parking in disabled bays.
My mum had a stroke 10 minutes away from the hospital on Saturday. The Professor of neurology, Christine, and her helper were absolutely beyond fantastic. I picked my mum up 24 hours later almost as good as new. Everyone at the Hospital was so accommodating and helpful I just could not get over it. Thank you ALL.
