Walked in there was no atmosphere the place was silent and almost dead. He threw in a square block of fish with batter on, as it came out the batter was overdone, little brothers fishcake was "mushy with very little fish", chips with either under cooked or overcooked and very greasy. By far the worst fish and chips I've ever had. However the lady in the shop was polite.
Had a very lovely rock salmon when I last was there about 2 years ago; waited 10 minutes and it was done! Hope they still do it; it's getting difficult to find this, my favourite fish!
Today I bought sausage and chips, I opened them at home and was confronted with oil laden chips that had been cooked at least twice and palmed off as fresh, the sausage was....bland, no taste and frankly disgusting...and pink in the middle!..the place was dirty,no effort on cleanliness. I shall not be going back. the hygienic rate awarded from the PCC was a 3.This place is to be avoided at all costs..truly disappointing.
As chips go, they do good ones. How come Chinese people always do awesome chips? Less greasy than our local, we always travel to get them here because we don't want to get fat as a result of fatty chip eating.
Best place with Cod Roe in Portsmouth. Food cooked with a fryer, tasty and very cheap. Owners, an old couple, very nice.
This place is the best for fish n chips, the batter is crispy n chips are just right yummy!!
Good fish and chips, they have everything you'd want on the menu from haddock to battered haggis!
Good food at a great price and the owners are friendly. Only a short walk to the beach.

The owner needs to put up a notice to inform the public of his ill health due to a heart attack his shop is closed we were informed after a 30 walk only to return to the top end of the beach
