A nice little camp site. The kitchen is reasonable, and the ovens typically quite slow, but perfectly functional. A nice fire pit area, good facilities for activities like hammocks, wide games, foraging, cooking , Kelly kettles, sawing, axing and tomahawk throwing. When camping out there is a multitude of wildlife to keep you awake, including geese, ducks & grouse. In summary a nice smallish, well maintained, site with reasonable facilities.
An excellent campsite ran by the Scouts. Great number of activities and wide variety of things that can be done both indoors and out.
Wonderful location and campsite. Great amenities. Good well stocked kitchen. Loved the outdoor chapel of the pines.
Great little camp site ,felt secure and safe at all times.
This is a private campsite for Scouts and Guides, although they do take other youth groups, schools and charities through enquiry on the website. It is not open to general members of the public or caravans. There are a number of camping plots available and also two buildings with bunk rooms and kitchen facilities. Full disabled facilities available too. Situated between Ullesthorpe and Frolesworth, the campsite is specifically looking at the more traditional skills and so doesn't have the usual activities like archery and climbing. One of the oldest Scout campsites in the UK, it also has a consecrated chapel St Peter in the Pines which is a very peaceful outside space, situated amongst the bluebells. Overall, it's a lovely, peaceful patch of woodland that I love visiting, and so do most of the groups too.
So many good memories of Scout camps.
An excellent campsite for 'back to basics' scouting. There are 2 large fields surrounded by trees with a number of altar fires around the site. There are a lot of improvements being made to the facilities on site as well, so it can only get better.
This scout camp isn't much in all reality. For those used to larger campgrounds this will feel lacking, especially in comparison to larger scout camps such as fox covets. It has lodging and a large fire pit, but other than that there is nothing. It really is just a cabin, there is no space or provision for activities such as archery or whatnot. It can be rented out by non scouting groups in low season but I wouldn't recommend it, the hill it is situated on causes loads of problems for tent pitchers and the cabins aren't anything to write home about, and neither are the often dirty toilets.
Took part in a Scouts training day there and couldn't have felt more welcome and accommodated for.
Great facility. Friendly, supportive team. Go there regularly for explorers and there is a lot to offer with great access to local footpaths straight out of the campsite.
