Over promised and under delivered. You sit somewhere between two floor to ceiling tanks. The tanks are curved and magnifying so are quite prone to making you feel a little sick as your brain processes what's going on. There's cover pop music playing where you're sat but there's also actual pop music which you can hear quite clearly coming from another area. The two sounds compete in the room you're sat in. Make of that what you will. The food was ample though incredibly bland for both my 'roasted' fish dish and my husband's vegetarian one. The main thing I can't fault were the staff, who were polite and welcoming. Yes, this place meets the minimum requirements to call it a restaurant, yes it meets the minimum requirements to use the word 'large fish tanks' but that's it. Minimum requirement met. Best not visit with high hopes.
Got engaged here, the food was incredible and the staff were lovely. Really was an amazing experience
Firstly the venue is fantastic and a wonderful experience having dinner in the aquarium. The staff and waiters were very tentative. Unfortunately the evening was ruined by the poor quality of the meal. You choose a 2 or 3 course set menu, after our mains we decided to just go. The majority of the food was cold. The two steaks were well cooked when rare was requested and steak knives not provided you pay a surcharge for this. I had the salmon which was supposed to be herb infused but was just a plain fillet. One of our party didn't even get her meal as they 'forgot to cook it'. The steaks, risotto and duck came with potatoes which were about 70% of the plate and the salad was just mixed leaves out of a bag. The chairs clearly were from the cafe, and were very uncomfortable as they were just plastic. Not at all what we were expecting from this restaurant especially since the bill was over £200 and overall very disappointed and we will not be coming back. You'd be better off looking round the deep and eating somewhere else in town.
What a super venue. Went as a birthday treat for our daughter. Relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff. We were able to wander around the tanks and exhibits in between courses. Food excellent although three children should have asked for the kids menu as a little fussy for them - serves them right for wanting to be grown up. Worth a return trip from Leeds
Wow, what can I say but what a fantastic experience.. With an exceptional menu too was worth every day of the 3 months waiting list
My husband and I went and was astounded at the fact how close to the aquarium with so much to see sharks swordfish and other fish the most amazing were the turtles. The meal was wonderful all freshly prepared staff were very helpful nothing to much trouble. Will definitely be going back thank you for an amazing and enjoyable night.
An absolute delight eating beautifully cooked and presented food in front of an aquarium full of fish and sea creatures. The atmosphere is wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed watching the fish explore their surroundings. Super menu and a perfect place to celebrate a special evening when in Hull.
Visited this restaurant in an special occasion went from London to Hull staying overnight just to have dinner inside an aquarium.... what a disappointing experience that was! First thing we booked extra in advance to get the “perfectly located table” requested in advance too in writing but when we arrived nothing was ready and we had a horrible corner table near the deserted tank of course! The food, it was just terrible, we dine a lot arand and selecting the special and unusual restaurant, this was the first place where we didn’t finish even a half of the any course...
Great food and service with a brilliant view of the main tank! Went for a birthday meal here and had 3 courses. Tapas starter was gorgeous. Yorkshire Medley main course was great. Lamb shank really succulent. The dessert was great too and my girlfriend loved it too. They catered to her food requirements really well and there was lots of choice for her. GF, DF. Kieran
Giving it three stars only because the staff was nice! However it was let down at the end as the waiter knew we were waiting to pay but was talking to other diners for a good 10 minutes then came to us... however she apologised. But was still annoying as we gave eye contact to let her know we were ready. The food was not the best... I had the carbonara which was packed with bacon and over powered everything. I couldn't even taste anything else. Also my partner realised what they put on the menu was not what was given... for example, they said wild mushrooms and gave normal mushrooms... small stuff like that but can make your decision. Also they served the Coke in Coke glasses which was a bit.... not restaurant like. And also the tables were bare with no tablecloth... small aspects like that really make the place nicer. But anyway the aquarium was good to look at but it was definitely over priced! It was different though and if you want to experience it, it is good to, just don't have high expectations when it comes to the food.
