A welcoming local pub mainly frequented by friendly locals. Food of good quality and exceptional value.
Prepare to step back 40 years. Very quaint old fashioned pub. Very friendly staff and locals. Good beer and food. Watch out for the small totally blind dog that roams aimlessly around the place. Babs, the owner of the pub and the dog is a real character. Don't expect wi-fi. Only recently acquired a card reader. Visited three times in as many days.
Great old fashioned in a good way! village pub. The food is very good and exceptional value. The real ale is consistently great.
Absolutely loved this pub, it's like a thro back in time. Enjoyed my cider and my pre ordered sirloin. Thankyou. Keep doing what your doing
Friendly pub with great old fashioned home cooked food This is a regular haunt for my Wife and I. Great friendly atmosphere, a welcoming landlady who doesn't suffer fools gladly. Good choice of Beers, Lagers and Cider, as well as all the usual soft drinks etc. The food is mostly home cooked. All the specials are home made pies, they are all good, my favourite is Chicken and Leek, but you cannot go wrong with any of the others, Steak and Mushroon, and 20 Church Wardens Pie. All are served with a choice of Chips, Potato croquets, or Jacket Spud. The range of pies rarely varies, which may sound like a negative, but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it, and as people keep coming back, it clearly isn't broken. Plenty of the usual pub food options too, Steaks, Scampi and Chips etc. At busy times you may have a wait, however this will be made clear. Remember this is a small village pub, not one of those faceless franchises. If visiting in a large group, it would make sense to book a table. The pub is dog friendly too, the "in house" hound is Daisy a very small and very friendly Yorkshire Terrier. Most of the mobile phone networks do not get a signal here, and there is no WiFi, so you will just have to talk to people. NB the pub does NOT take Credit or Debit cards, it's cash or Cheque. Mr Michelin probably wouldn't give it 5 Stars, but that is his loss.
A fantastic country pub with good Adnams ales, charming staff and honest unpretentious traditional food. I leave this review hesitantly because I don't want it to be spoiled by advertising it to the sort of tossers that would take to trip advisor complaining that it's not a gastropub or a spoons. Go, enjoy but keep it under your hat.
We had a lovely lunch here very cosy. All cooked fresh and homemade. 7 different meals. Great stuff.
A proper traditional pub offering good ales and for once offering tasty home made food at excellent cost. P.S. Keep a secret as not many country pubs like this left.
Good value homemade food. Renound for the Pies. The pub dog is friendly, but beware of the landlady, she might bite.
Lovely pub for a quiet drink. Nice food as well
