Had heard good things about the carvery here and waited a long time to get to try it thanks Covid. I went with a small family party last weekend, and we loved it. The staff were attentive, the roast was amazing and all in all a lovely evening. Will definitely be back.
1 day open - from the local opinions, I had bigger expectations. Only 3 stars: very long time waiting for food, missed the attention of waitress. Food good but not spectacular- steak need a butter and spices the same burger . Fish and chips lovely, pizza good base. Overall service for 4 includes starters and drinks 128,60£ fair prices!
Came here with my grandparents and we’re always delighted to find a dog friendly pub! Our server was so helpful and patient with us. The portion sizes were very generous however I felt my pizza was slightly overloaded with cheese and my grandma’s pie had pastry a little thick, perhaps a pit pie with just a pastry too would be better?
We were looking forward to the opening of The Tudor Rose it was one of our favourite local pubs. We arrived and were taken to our table and given a menu. We were then told that most of the items were unavailable. Our daughter then ordered steak to be told sorry we don’t have that either!!!! We all ended up ordering pizza. The pizza menu says hand stretched pizza!!! Well it’s not as we saw chef go to the freezer and bring out three frozen perfectly round bases. The pizza was awful, one burnt and one all soggy. We told the waitress our food was awful and she replied yes the Chef has had complaints all night. I appreciate it was opening night but no one knew what they were doing. There was no greeting for it being opening night and we left feeling so disappointed with everything. We don’t really want to relive that experience so unfortunately will never go back
First visit. Having looked at their website we booked a table for Saturday lunch as we liked the look of the menu. Rather surprised when we arrived to find that it was carvery only, albeit with a couple of other choices. No mention of it when we booked. However the carvery was pretty decent and the staff were efficient and pleasant.
Not a good experience doesn’t even deserve the 1*. Had a table booked for 2pm for 3 peoplebirthday treat for 1 person.Turned up in time by taxi to find it in darkness and locked up. Luckily the taxi waited as could see something was wrong. Walked around trying the doors and telephoning to get an answer to no avail. Cost us double the taxi to take us elsewhere where we had a lovely time. Find it rude that they couldn’t telephone to let us know . Will not be going there in future .
After reading recent reviews, after our visit, I'm glad I did. Opening night of any pub doesn't run as smoothly as customers or pub staff hope. You're all new. New owners, staff, new way of running things and things always go wrong. I know; I've been there; seen it and it's not fun when it does. Our last Sunday lunch out was to a very popular restaurant in Rainham and we're still wondering what we were served up and it appeared to be completely different to what others around us were saying and clearing their plates!! We're not foodies, just want a decent meal. Anyway, we booked for Sunday lunchtime and didn't expect roast dinners but they were back!!! The options of 1 to 3 courses, with a set menu, with three courses priced at £16.95. Very good value! The starters were just the right size. My daughter and I had the three cheese garlic ciabatta, my husband had chicken liver pate. All good. Then the main. We all had something different. Turkey, beef and lamb options chosen, with cauliflower cheese as well. My goodness, when the food arrived it was lovely and so tasty. Cabbage, fresh carrots, parsnips which had been cored too, broccoli and the portions were excellent. The meat was all tender, even our fussy daughter woofed down the beef, leaving very little. And as for the Yorkshire pudding; my husband and I did eye it up as we didn't have one on our plate, but that was eaten up first!! Husband enjoyed his lamb, and I had the turkey. The only little thing I wasn't too keen on was the stuffing. It took me back to the 70s but I still ate one Then do we or don't we have dessert? Of course we had dessert! It would be rude to ignore them off the menu. Daughter had her go to brownie and ice cream; we both had the caramel and honeycomb cheesecake with ice cream. Sooo good I don't eat cheesecake often because I don't like the thick biscuit base, so this was a gamble. Oh. My. Goodness. I have never been so happy The thinnest of bases and the lightest of cheesecake. It was delicious. Now you're after staff and timings aren't you? The staff were lovely, didn't keep hovering and were attentive to the right level in our opinion. The timings? It was Sunday, we weren't in a rush and wanted a relaxed meal. We weren't waiting ages and we had completed our meal in about an hour, hour and a half. Bar staff too were polite and friendly. We'll be back again for sure. Please give it a try, and remember they are finding their own path, at a pub which had a big reputation for good food to follow. From what we had, they're getting there, in their own way and really hope it only gets better and better for them. See you again soon Tudor Rose
First time I've been back in a while. Gotta say solid 5 stars. Staff were attentive and the carvery was great!
We visited the Tudor Rose when looking for a place to eat after a trip to Ightam moat. This the first time we have been there. 6 of us and my word how amazing this place is. Good parking, excellent staff, NOTHING was to much bother for them. The food was absolutely superb and they welcomed our trainee guide dog kean. All in all an amazing experience
So glad the Tudor Rose is open again. Had a lovely carvery there last Friday, great service and friendly waitresses and only a teeny bit disappointed their gorgeous pork belly dish wasn't on the menu
