I was completely humiliated in the reception area by the receptionist on duty at 16.00hrs today. Absolutely refusing to do what the GP told me I had to ask for.I saw the GP because I am very poorly.I stood in reception waiting to speak with the receptionist afterwards as instructed by the GP.I didn't go there on a social visit unlike the receptionist who ignored me and enjoyed her chinwag with her "mates"instead.The GP wrote down on a "post it "what i had to show reception as i wouldn't remember her jargon.Fair enough as I wouldn't expect anyone to retain everything I say to people when I'm doing my job.The receptionist refused everything she was asked which reduced me to tears.She could see I was very upset ,and not being a serial visitor to the surgery I certainly don't know the ropes.In my 60 years on this earth,43 of them working and paying my taxes and national insurance without a break, I was treated like a 3rd class citizen who she wouldn't put out if I was on fire.I am totally disgusted that this is a front line representation of the national health service at it's best.
