Tristram Caravan & Camping Park
"Tristram Caravan Park is positioned on the gently sloping and beautifully grassy cliff overlooking Polzeath Beach, the view really has to be seen to be believed. The site itself is fenced off from the beach path providing both privacy and safety, especially for children. This is a campervan and caravanning site, but if you wish to camp with a tent in Polzeath, check out our sister site Southwinds."

Nice beach side campsite! Good sized pitches, slightly sloped but expected due to the location. Friendly welcome and good facilities. Only negative is the fact you have to press a button outside the cubicle to activate the shower which only then gives you 6 minutes. I can understand this during the high season but is it really necessary in October? Overall a site to recommend and we will be returning
Unfortunately our stay here was ruined by over the top ‘rules’, which seem to be a theme at this site. I use a driveaway awning which wraps around the side of the van. The site tell us they have ‘had a look’ and decided that I am not allowed to return because it is ‘too big’ and ‘more of a tent than an awning’ which is not true, it is literally a driveaway awning. They obviously had no interest I noticed multiple others using awnings from the same company however mine they had an issue with. The staff weren’t interested in being reasonable it’s just the rules and that’s it, even though the pitch I booked was much bigger than required and I did this on purpose, and I was well within the pitch boundaries. My unit entirely fit within the pitch by a good distance yet I am not allowed to bring the awning back. The site is in a nice location with a good view however the ignorance of staff here has ruined the experience, and I would not recommend travelling a few hours or more for them to drum up a rule. Very expensive for what you get, and the ANPR car park appears to be their entrance, with no proper signage for the reception and a check-in, we drove into the car park owned by the site and had to pay to leave? Ridiculous. All in, overly expensive, rude and un-welcoming. Save your cash and go somewhere where you can have a comfortable camp and no bother from over the top rules and rude staff. Funny they weren’t interested in their ‘terms and conditions’ when we booked as a non n family group? Don’t bother!
Amazing location for beach lazing and surfing, you'll struggle to find better and we have stayed in a few. We first spotted the site two years ago and I promised by eldest that when we bought a motorhomes we'd come and stay, so we did. The site is clean the facilities are good and modern with Mira showers which operate on a six minute timer. I note older reviews which mention extra charges for showers, these now appear to be gone. The pitches do all slope downwards so you'll need levelling blocks for campers. The staff were friendly and helpful. Only bad point which prevents this getting a full five stars is the lack of shop selling the basics. They do prove basic camping odds and ends in reception but no food products, leaving you at the mercy of the Spar in Polzeath which definitely works on supply and demand pricing. Only other issue we had were the electrics, they were having some repairs done as I understand but the power didn't have enough grunt to work our fridge on its highest setting which we use for the first few hours to chill it down. Other than that the pitches are well marked out and of a decent size. Would certainly have no reservations about staying here again.
Fantastic location so not cheap. Toilets and showers modern. Clean but could be maintained better/more often a toilet seat that was detached was not refixed during our stay of 4 days. Smallish pitches hence the requirement to park your car free in their car park. Stunning view of the beach and surf, the beach is on your doorstep. We would recommend this site to anyone who wants to be near a great surfing beach.
we came last year for a week, lovely clean site, friendly staff, i have just booked again for two weeks in may hope the sunny weather is there waiting for us.
Lovely place to go on holiday to Polzeath! We had an amazing stay here, pitched on the terrace with a lovely view of the beach. Great facilities, showers can be made hot and they were always quiet. So many dogs here which is really lovely and also lots of friendly happy campers. Would recommend staying here and I’m sure to come back myself!
Everything was going well, until I had my Sunglasses stolen from the shower block. As much as it was my fault, the disgusting attitude and complete lack of care the staff in the office including the owner of the campsite over a simple question about them has put me off visiting again. Money grabbers, super expensive for what you get, many better alternative camp sites around Polzeath, only positive is the view.
Fantastic location lovely campsite great toilets and showers very clean. Could do with more fresh water taps around the site .
Despicable people. You have to enter through their car park to get to The Cracking Crab restaurant. We drove in, got the baby out of the car to find Cracking Crab restaurant not open for food service yet. We hopped back in the car to drive down but they refused to let us back through the barrier and insisted we pay. At first telling us they had no control of the barrier - it’s separate and they are the campsite. Lie number one. They then told us we had been in for over ten minutes. Lie number two. They then told us it is not their problem the Cracking Crab not ”willing to serve us” and again that they could not lift the barrier - it’s automated. They then said they wouldn’t have a business to run if they let everyone through to look at the surf and if that upset us it was our problem. The insinuation being we were lying about trying to eat in a restaurant they essentially restrict physical access to. Finally they confirmed that they are the campsite and they run the car park and it’s not automated but they refused to lift it and we’d have to pay for both cars to have turned around. Absolutely disgusting greed and very rude throughout. We really recommend the Cracking Crab from a meal there earlier in the week but would walk if we ever visited again. A really nasty end to a lovely trip to Polzeath.
Lovely location and very clean site. Nice beach a minutes walk away and the views were lovely too. One negative is that the toilets near reception closed all day so you had to walk a load further if you needed to use the facilities. Staff were accommodating and helpful, would definitely stay again. Overall I found it to be quite peaceful and secluded at night, a word of warning though there is a public carpark that some pitches are right next to, which is a pain if you are after a lie in!
