I was learning at ESOL courses in Wellinghborough,in 2015. This year found that building demolited-don't understand why. In that building-workshop near big college building we where advised that: Dracula is buried in Whitby... ...
Do not like a tutor who taught Business level 2, I think her name was Marion. I felt like she was not trying to include me in the class at all just because my English was not very good at the time. One time I took the wrong bus and went to a completely different place, hence was late for her class. I explained it to her but she did not care. Instead, she asked me to sit outside and talk to a different tutor. I do not understand how staff like this can be teaching? She seemed friendly initially but it didn't take long to realise she was not! That was awful. But Esol teachers are friendly.
If I could put a zero I would. Absolutely shocking. The turnover of staff this year for the Access to HE: Health Professions is unreal. Physics: Has been awful. The lecturer left at Christmas and we missed a couple of lessons before the new lecturer came in. He could not teach and had constant mistakes on his power points. And his grasp on the material was shaky. When asked to explain more in depth his answer was "I don't know, you'll have to google that". He lasted all of three weeks before leaving with immediate effect. Once again leaving us without a teacher and more missing lessons. The next lecturer came and raced through the second assignment before moving onto the content for the third assignment. After the content was complete we were left with no more lessons as the teacher had "no obligation" provide us with anymore. She was only contracted out from the Corby campus because they couldn't find anybody else. We were told to email her if we had any issues. Which is all very well and good if she didn't take almost a week to reply as we were all on a tight deadline. We hadn't heard from her even before we handed in our last assignment. Not acknowledging that she had received, marked or passed the assignment to be internally verified. It wasn't until the day that all the work was being signed off did we get our mark from tutor who internally verified the work. Biology: not much to say. It was taught well but the teacher left suddenly. This teacher was also responsible for study skills Study skills: we were told all through the course that we were ahead. It got to the point where we were told if we didn't need help with assignments or research projects that we didn't need to go in. As we were all up to date with the study skills. When he left he emailed us all with the outstanding study skills there were still some missing. There were a couple of lessons missed as there was no tutor. The study skills tutor is also responsible with anything to so with the research projects. So everything was quite tight at the end. Also just a week before signing off our folders it was found that the ethics module had been delivered to the health students but not the psychology or physics. We all got an email with what we needed to do and if we needed help to make an appointment with a tutor. But not much else. I received only 3 merits and the rest distinctions and my university requires 45 distinctions. This is due to the missing lessons and an incompetent teacher who didn't really know what he was talking about. I ask the college to complain form explaining the circumstances around my 3 merits. Not only was the draft missing a lot of facts it also had poor punctuation. I sent back an email with the changed I would like make and asked the tutor to get back to me to see what she though. And she just blatantly ignored me and sent it off to the university full mistakes because she didn't even think to ask me about it. I've now had to ring up the university and apologise as the email container one sentence a long with my name. No UCAS number so they can identity me or what the form was. I have requested they wait until I clear up the mistakes in the original form. Very unhappy as this course and tutors have messed not on me but others around. And now they don't want to clearly state the circumstances of why I achieved the 3 merits. Everything else was distinction level and now the staff Tresham college, part of the Bedford College Group, can't be asked to help me and are hindering my placement at my chosen university by not stating the facts. There is probably more but that is just from the top of my head. I would strongly advise that potential students at Tresham College look for their education elsewhere. And I know a lot of the people on my course would agree with me.
Great experience. Admin bit of a nightmare, kept sending me in a loop, so I went and asked at reception. Really great help from Mel, who got me re-enrolled in 10 mins. Thanks Mel!
Attended Tresham College of further and higher education from 2009-2015. First two years were doing the National Diploma in Television and Media after leaving school at 16 to enter an environment of unorganised classes, change in media leadership during the 2nd year, curriculum being trashed and changed along with loss in resources, funding, three great lecturers leaving and an environment of no discipline, efficient disciplinary procedures and immature behaviour from the majority if not nearly all of the students in the class with excessive bullying included. I finished all 6 years with sufficient grades but those 2 years had my grades effected due to other students not pulling their work load in group projects leading to me getting grades lower due to their lack of teamwork and lecturers did nothing to fix this issue even though they acknowledged that it was an issue. The next following 2 years, whiles taking the Diploma in Graphic Design with a subsidiary in Photography as a sidetrack from media and filming saw again lack of organisation, excessive bullying including that on social networking sites by those students that was not properly handled along with lack of dealing with students who just spent all year not working and effecting the environment that people wish to study at to escape the immature environment of highschool. In the last 2 years was where the final nail to the coffin was added where i did the HND in Graphic Design and Illustration, which now appears to have been scrapped where due to administration and financial issues saw the FDA course that i was initially under under Northampton university with the course taking place at Tresham college getting scrapped after only 4 students from the course came to Tresham, which by rumour we were informed by lecturers that Northampton College took the other enrolled students to boost their own numbers before in the end only having myself and one other left making us join the HND group. So after a lot of financial and paperwork issues of switching to the HND course; therefore leaving Northampton University to stay as a student at Tresham we had two years of lack of funding, equipment, resources that were strained due to the number of lower years also studying at Tresham, lack of enrichment on our courses, lack of preparation for university and again no discipline or proper handling of immature and bullying behaviour within the campus. The only two plus sides i have with the campus is that it is a lovely looking campus and that the lecturers from my experience are absolutely lovely. Aside from that I had 6 years of horrendous education. We even were given a common room for the higher education students to have as their own and we were told that it was in the preparation of getting new furniture, units etc to make our experience that we were paying for more beneficial and as a relaxing environment to work in but after those two years we saw no change. I had to even bring in my own kettle for our common room. I feel that for the price that we were paying for our course the students as a whole felt strongly that our funds were being paid mostly in other departments that were not even in Graphic Design as we barely saw any new changes since starting the course. If Tresham could not afford or accommodate higher educational courses then they should not have advertised or have had them in the first place. For the creative department was excessively cramped due to the amount of lower years who were studying diplomas. I have no doubt that many have had great experiences at Tresham; however it is clear not just from my own experiences but from many others that there are very mixed reviews based on very bad issues that are still within the campus of Tresham. And I personally cannot recommend Tresham for it is not yet the "rewarding and mature, friendly" environment that Tresham tries to portray it as with zero communication.
My experience of Tresham College has been as a prospective employee and I cannot express how dysfunctional and poor that experience was. The college culture is flawed with ladpsidasidcle leaders and low expectations from students and this is fairly reflected throughout their inspection and evident whilst walking around the college. Furthermore, - Communication was poor from administrative staff right through to department leaders - I arrived 30 minutes early and interviewers strolled through reception 10 minutes before interview leaving me with no prep time beforehand. - Told beforehand there would be 14 students for interview lesson and there was 3. - They broke GDPR regulations by leaving student names on work. My advice to Tresham College is to remember that you are also trying to sell yourselves to potential employees not just the other way. The arrogance was overwhelming.
Semi decent college, however they will try to screw you over by saying you're welcome on the courses but then turn you away when you arrive. They will only let the students who fight for a place to join thw courses. Some of the teachers were fit though ;
Very poor management and confusion. Only got about 40% of the course as the organisation always struggling with staff. Very unclear with fees. Also aprentices struggled with Evolve what was just a mess. Would never do it again. Avoid if possible.
I have just been here for a few days, and I can not wait for the next few days. Thank you so much for your help and advice with. English and the students, I am with and will be back for. More Next Weak. My course is English then Maths.
Had my hair cut by a 2nd year student and Toni did a great job.
