Car park sitting on a hilltop that’s leaned towards a side. However getting to the car park if you’re staying in a hotel near the beach, or anywhere down the hill would be difficult to get to. Getting to the car park at night has hardly any lighting on the roads so can be dangerous. Otherwise bus stops are right outside the car park. Would recommend a car park closer, down the hill to the beach.
Car park with great views, and you can follow the path leading into St Ives down a hill so steep if you pause for a rest you'll roll to the bottom. Car park was super packed when we visited, and unfortunately only one ticket machine was working massive queue, and the other no-one was answering the call button - expect a little better paying premium prices. One the plus side there is a toilet you can wash the sweat off from climbing the hill
St Ives is so pretty, lots of local shops, clean everywhere and plenty of choice for food.
Car park is good with lots of space, walking down the hill into town though is extremely steep and not for any impaired! Returning back to the car park is not easy unless you're fairly fit or possess an iron lung 5o recover. We are both quite fit,and even we had to stop a couple of times. Alternative, you can take a bus to and from town. Personally, dare to walk it,its an achievement!
I'd love to recommend it as it's pretty much the only viable large enough car park to use on a busy day in full season actually in town. Sadly the queue was enormous because each car approaching the entrance reads the lengthy guidance to collect a ticket, waits for the machine to tell you to drive in without one, and continues uncertainly. When leaving the car park the confusion is compounded because the payment machines request a ticket, which of course nobody has, which requires each vehicle to phone for assistance, leaving the exit queue absurdly long. The car park is very steep too.
Large car park. 20 minute walk from here into St Ives which is all uphill on the way back. However a bus is available every 30 minutes if you need it. Always managed to get a space. Not too expensive for whole day.
Although large it gets REALLY busy and the queues to get in can be long. Expect to drive around to the overflow areas in peak times. You can walk to the town in about 10 mins but its steep so the shuttle bus service to get back was helpful. Its not free though so overall its not the cheapest place to park.
Expensive! Same price as other car parks that are closer to the centre and not up a massive hill. £6.60 for 2-4 hours, and still have to pay £1.50 each way per person for the bus down to/from the centre. Parking spaces are very small and sideways on a steep hill. Found out later it's best to park at the Rugby Club.
I have used Trenwith car park for many years whilst on holiday in Cornwall. This year, new payment machines have been introduced and after attending an evening concert we returned to the car park in the dark to discover that there is no lighting around the machines. This made it impossible to see where to scan the parking ticket, fortunately I used my phone torch to resolve this otherwise a lot of trial and error would have been required. Surely, it would have been possible to provide some adequate lighting around these payment machines. I would also add, that the toilets at the top of the hill are disgusting.
Plenty of parking but on busy days you'd still need to get there early. Charges can be made by the Just Parking app which is easy to do and saves messing with change. Be prepared for a long walk down steep hills unless you use the buses. In light of the Covid situation you may not feel comfortable using these. We got the bus back to save walking up the steep hill but the bus was packed. The driver didn't wear his mask and some of the public didn't either. Basically you're taking a risk! I wish we'd walked now.
