We had our dog with us so couldn't visit the gardens. We did sit in the courtyard cafe for refreshments, very nice there. We did the woodland walk which was very nice. The walk down to the beach has beautiful views of the estuary. We didn't do the full walk as it was too hot! Hottest day of the year!
Beautiful gardens, lovely house but only downstairs open at the moment, but a lovely cafe and sofa area to chill in and enjoy the views... Many thanks to the lovely couple who were volunteering in the house today for their time spent chatting with us... Was a pleasure to meet you.
Well kept gardens with a great variety of plants and shrubs. Good wide paths and numerous benches along the way. Staff and volunteers all friendly and helpful. Cafe with outdoor sitting, and standard NT shop on site. Known to get very busy in the summer. Located right by the ferry.
Large and beautiful gardens with a wide array of plants. There are paths between huts and plant sections with some sets of stairs but typically there are options to avoid if you have a pram or wheelchair. There are toilets, a cafe and a gift shop on site with friendly staff and a large car park. The entry price is reasonable but the additional £5 for parking is annoying. Nice day out for the family if you are in the area!
Fab location on the Fal estuary. The house/villa was so different in that you went into the main entrance hall and then to the kitchen area and get refreshments and sit in the conservatory or lounge and enjoy your tea with a view. Gardens were lovely and a nice walk down to the ferry dock
The formal gardens have a tropical theme and are very nice to see, although the garden areas are quite small compared to others we have visited, plus at the time of our visit the house was closed to visitors. The cafe food was really tasty and good value for money. I can highly recommend the woodland walk along the River Fal, lots of seating with stunning views along the whole route, although our visit was before the trees came into leaf so the views will be restricted during the summer/autumn period.
Quite possibly the most stunning national trust property we have ever been to! There isn't a huge amount to the house itself, but they have very cleverly converted the kitchen into a working café, and provided seating for customers overlooking the incredible views they have on offer I'm told the cakes were delicious, but I can personally vouch for the coffee being quite excellent! If you visit, and you should, make sure you take a walk down to the beach too - the view is not to be missed!
Definitely worth visiting. There's a boat that goes from falmouth or you could drive there. The garden is huge. It's a lovely place to go for a walk and explore. I love the book store here. It's got so many different book and a bunch of old prints. You should definitely pay it a visit.
Nothing about this place uncovers itself immediately. There are a series of reveals unfold as you explore; aspects of the house, glimpses of the glinting estuary leading out to the ocean, and multiple layers of this informal garden. Semi tropical flora thrives on a spectacular scale, the plantings are exquisite and cultivated over many generations.
Beautiful gardens and lovely house that is unusually visitor-friendly. Only about six rooms are open to the public but three of them are completely usable for visitors to make themselves at home. You can get tea, coffee, cakes and ice-cream from the quaint little kitchen and sit anywhere in the dining room, lounge or conservatory which all have the wonderful view of the River Fal. It is so relaxed, and the staff are so friendly, that you can feel you live there! The main facilities in the converted outbuildings are absolutely excellent. There is a picturesque courtyard restaurant and well-stocked shop with a garden section selling very good quality plants. The gardens are really beautiful. You can spend quite a while there following all the winding paths that take you to the edge of the River Fal. All in all, Trelissick is a must-do day out or even just a very special stopping point if travelling up or down the A39.
