Almost dropped a star for location but felt that would be a bit harsh! Car parking is a nightmare but that’s on me, I should have read the details more closely when I booked. The hotel itself has no restaurant but a Wetherspoons a couple of doors down is really good.nnOverall I use Travelodge because they offer good value and you know what you’re getting. This was one of the better examples of that, room was huge, USBC sockets everywhere including by the bed which really helps, room temperature good, everything working clean and tidy. My key card did die at one point but all the staff were absolutely brilliant and very welcoming across the board. Well done guys, lovely stay, thank you
Reception excellent.nMaids duties, did not include bed making. ?Only Towel delivery. ,plus bin cleaning. Very pleasant in manner.nToilet overflow leaked 24/7,.It was reported. One elderly employeenappeared disinterested in the building. We enjoyed our stay, and partly understand the human race.
The actual car park is miniscule with around 5 spaces, including blue badge.nnUnless you're very lucky, you'll need to park in the shopping area at quite a reasonable cost including an overnight rate but free for the first hour - and extendable using the Ringo app. Spaces are limited but there are always people coming and going. There is some street parking locally if you want to try it.nnAccess to the hotel is to the right down a side street with reception on the first floor, but there are two lifts.nnAccess to floors and rooms is via access card. Expect the familiar Travelodge look, but don't expect much of a view. Even on the front of the hotel, you're only overlooking the street one block from the sea front, and there is nothing to see from the rear.nnRooms have showers, sink and loo, small screen TV with large remote control, kettle/tea/coffee, desk, chair, hanging space, bedside lighting, and USB / mains sockets.nnThe site is clean, tidy, basic but comfortable, and effective as per brand.nnVisit reception to pick up more tea/coffee/milk/sugar.nnDon't worry about finding somewhere to eat locally with a Spoons up the road on the left out of the entrance door, M&S Food under the hotel and ample shops, restaurants and pubs within a stones throw all around the town centre.nnWe didn't really need reception apart from on check in, but they seemed attentive when we nipped in to get top-up stuff for the room, and they can supply a hair dryer on request.nnThe hotel is also a short walk from the Lytham prom - no need to drive.nnBuses run locally, too. It's a great place to base yourself and not too far from Blackpool itself but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet.
You know what you are getting. Parking can be a bit of an issue but the staff helped us tremendously. Actually we were visiting Lytham but although advertised as Lytham this hotel is actually in St. Annes which is about 3 miles away. £9.00 each way in a taxi cheaper if you use Uber but if its 3 or 4 of you it's not such a problem. Great tapas bar next door- we got free tapas with our drinks and they also serve a great choice of breakfast dishes. Water pressure in the hotel was a bit hit and miss and we did inform reception as we were leaving it's not staffed for big parts of the day but they do provide a phone number for any urgent issues
Overwhelmed by the cleanliness of the rooms, since everything has been upgraded, even the carpets look brand new, the rooms feel fresh smell fresh and are very comfortable we even have the same mattress at homenStaff are very polite and helpfulnRest of the hotel fresh and clean looking, lifts working order.nThe view out of the window is interesting lots to see as the world goes by, in a central location close to the beach, if you get the front facing view you get lovely afternoon sun streaming in. The sea is not visible unless on the very top floor. So this lodge seems to have done away with the old sofas now are replaced with nice upholstered chairs and permanent pull out beds for either an extra adult or a family layout. We were happy with the layout and was set up considerately in advance with towels laid out on beds.nNow the downside… literally a handful of free car parking spaces available for guests, otherwise you are fighting in the car park next door to bag a space, the car park is for costa and M&S next door. The parking overnight is £2 not too bad. If you can’t park there you have to look for one in the immediate area, usually a parking meter. There is no restaurant at the lodge, so you have to cater for yourself for a hot breakfast or dinner, not an issue for me as we tend to do this anyway.nSo the worse bit of the stay for me is the absolute continuous noise from the road. The main road to Blackpool is horrendously busy, even up til 2am! The revving of inconsiderate cars and motorbikes, as it’s just by a set of traffic lights. So you have to keep the window open in summer warmer months as there is no air con with 4 in the room it can get very stuffy. If there was air con here this stay would have got 5 stars. Whilst it’s nice to get fresh air from outside you have to bear with the noise and as the window is on safety locks for children you will need the fan the lodge provides as back up air circulation, but then that’s extra noise you don’t need when trying to sleep.nWorse bit about this stay was the anti social behaviour in the area. There was someone outside? playing very loud rap music until 1am, it woke everyone up. We thought it was inside the lodge but it appeared to be a private resident maybe a bar nearby. Woke up bleary eyed!nLove st Anne’s we have been coming here for years, but disappointed at how busy it has become now especially traffic wise, like staying in a city!nGood budget price for a quick stop over in st Anne’s.
