Food excellent at lunchtime.15% off at the moment in week days . Staff lovely. Car park at the back . 2 toilets. Lots of lagers and beers on draughts. Only 3 items available for children menu . Yes would definitely go back .
I ordered gammon steak and prawn cocktail. The food I ordered are delicious and with big portion. The prawn cocktail is just amazing, definitely try this if you are proven lover just like me. Gammon steak is good too, the pork skin is on and fried so it's nice and crispy. My other friend, who ordered salmon and the daily soup - broccoli and stilton, isn't as impressed as the cheese is so dense she said it stick on your lips when you have it. I was there around 2pm Saturday, it's still pretty packed at the time, so make sure you make the booking. The atmosphere was good too! Not sure if it's because it just reopened but the service we got can definitely better. Staffs have good attitude but when serving coffee and bringing cutlery, they left them on a corner of the table we have a table for 6 ppl then left, expecting yourselves to pass to whoever needs it. We also waited for a long time to get our dessert menu after asked them for it, then waited a long while again to actually been asked what did we want to order.
Hi we went here on a Thursday evening well five pm because they stop doing food for part of the afternoon I had lamb shank with Ash and veg Joan had cod Gordon's with mushy peas and chips
Been on a number of occasions to this restaurant but unfortunately our last visit was disappointing. Four of us went along to celebrate Christmas and ordered a festive lunch. However the food was presented just warm and the stuffing balls were bland and not cooked! We did mention this to the waitress who did her best by bring us hot gravy which did heat up the food and did exchange the stuffing which had obviously been cooked in the microwave for a couple of minutes. So disappointed with the food but the service and atmosphere was good.
Had a brilliant meal for my husband's birthday. Food was excellent and the service was the same. Would definitely recommend to all my friends. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Firstly was table arrangements. Booked for party of 8 two weeks before but were put on 2 tables that sat 4 and had to push them together as we were a party. Drink order taken at the table. We waited and eventually had to ask where they were and they were sitting on the counter by the bar. Very young members of staff obviously with no guidance standing around. Waited a very long time for food. Starters of prawn cocktails were extremely disappointing. Also the crust on a tartlet was so hard cudnt cut into it. On making a comment to young girl clearing plates away to mention to the kitchen she laughed pulled a few faces and asked if it was a joke !! Mains were all very good. The service and waiting time was very poor. Sorry but could not recommend.
To my shame , I didn't finish my meal. It's my fault , I have developed a medical inability to swallow some foods & I'm awaiting a camera down the throat yippee & just filled up quickly . Even a very good pint of Pedigree bitter couldn't clear my gullet & I only managed half of my tasty lasagna Verdi. I started off OK with a favourite soup , carrot & coriander & pampered my throat with a nice vanilla ice cream.. ten of us split the bill at £36 a couple which was extremely reasonable. My wife enjoyed her tender braised steak & superb cheesecake. Everyone was replete , except poor me.boo hoo
Party of 4 adults had a lovely meal today. Pie, Liver and burgers were all excellent and a good size portion. I will be going back again.
Been a couple years since came to the travelers rest due to this covid Finally came back as last time had a great meal with family Booked a table for 6 As always great to see a business doing so well and busy in these strange times. Country pub in Stanley which has very good choices of excellent meals on the menu but not many choices on the children's menu. The restaurant is limited to 6 people per table/booking. Booking is recommended as it is very popular. Large car park and outdoor seating. Bar area if you just want a drink.Food: 5/5
