For me, Martin and his team sell the best fish and chips in Reading. Have I been to all the fish places in Reading? No, no I haven't. But of the ones I have been to and other places across the country, I think top table lives up to its name. Always friendly and reasonably priced. Only drawback is that they only take cash.
Refried chips third time I've had this.. won't be another time that's for sure. Rotten awful taste, throat scrapers waste of money.
Horrible chips. Cooked more than once and very hard and greasy. Fish overcooked and soaked in grease too. Don’t waste your money
First "fish & chip" shop I've been too in reading and have to say it was good authentic experience was very happy until it came to asking for sauce on my chips to which the man replied "we don't do sauce it's too messy" later I came to know they do however charge extra for it. Cheeky I think otherwise it would have been 5 starts the chips and fish where very very oily also and not well drained at all.
Very good fish and chips. Been here a few times and have been I'm pressed every time.
We have only been once, but others have recommended this place. My wife and I ordered Cod and chips. The portions were generous, however the fish was over cooked in parts and the chips were overly greasy. There was a queue and it was a very hot day. So it was possible that the deep fat fryer was not at the right temperature, hence fatty chips. The fish was not uniform in shape and the thinner parts were over cooked. I have regularly passed this chippy and have heard good things. Shame that it did not live up to expectations.
Awful chips...huge portion but awful. So tight with the vinegar also...had to ask twice for more vinegar
Had to throw away my food. I'm vegetarian and orded chips, curry sauce and the pancake roll - i asked what was in the pancake roll and was told vegetables. Food was fine until I came across a a miscellaneous piece of something, after close inspection is was clear it was some kinda meat/chicken. I then found meat in the curry sauce too, so then had to throw it all away. Not happy at all. It should be clear what is vegetarian and what is not. Waste of money.
Over priced the chips were stale and the fish was very greasy do not recommend
A quirky little take out fish and chips spot, generous portions at a reasonable price. A little greasy perhaps but cooked fresh, served super hot and the chips fries were indeed excellent. The owner is a bit of character, so don’t be surprised.
