Save your money and steer well clear! Booked a table for 2 at 7pm on a Sunday, my wife fancied a roast beef dinner and I fancied roast lamb. On arrival we ordered drinks and starters but told they’d run out of soup so we opted for pigs in blankets and prawn cocktail. We then went up to the carvery to be told they’d run out of beef and lamb leaving some dried up pork, turkey or gammon. The vegetables weren’t much better with much of it dried up, 3 almost empty pots of grave and no apple sauce for the pork until I asked, the manager couldn’t have cared less and was totally dismissive of my comments when I spoke with her commenting “it’s all down to availability” The waitress was very apologetic and was happy to ask if she could offer us free desserts but judging by the managers attitude I doubt she would have been successful and we had had enough and wanted to leave. If you are in Eastbourne I would recommend The Holly Blue as this is far superior and the same price, Toby Carvery in Eastbourne won’t be getting my business again.
6 of us walked in. Had table booked. 20 minutes later only napkins on table. Not even been asked if wanted a drink. So 25 minutes later 6 of us walked out. Such a shame as I like a nice Toby roast
Absolutely amazing experience! The gentleman at the front, our waiter and the chef serving the carvery were all so friendly and lovely. My daughter has a severe nut allergy and they were so trusting and made me feel comfortable about their service. Their allergy information/app is very clear and easy to use so I had no worries or issues. Highly recommend and the food was yummy! We can't wait to go back Kid-friendliness: Very child friendly especially the chef serving the carvery, he was very lovely towards my daughter and made her laugh. 10/10
Very very disappointing. Option very poor for vegetarians. There were no veggie sausages as they had not been delivered. No offer of any reduction of price due to limited options. The 'plumb' tomatoes were just tiny chopped up pieces. No maple syrup for pancakes. Most of the plates had bits on and a chipped plate. No decaffeinated tea on offer and water was Luke warm. My wife was shown to the toilet which had to be opened for her. The toilet was so disgusting that came straight out and reported. She was shown to another toilet that was just as bad and did not flush. Vegetarian options: Very very poor.
Really enjoyed the carvery here. Good service from all staff we met. Special shout out to the lady on the carvery, the queue never went down the entire time we were there and she kept going with a smile on her face in that heat. Give her a pay rise! The food was good too. Would definitely go back.Food: 4/5
The young man serving us was unenthusiastic, inattentive and spent most of the evening propping up the bar. We ordered pigs in blankets but they never turned up - a muttered sorry when we brought this up but no real apology. We were left for over half an hour with empty plates at the end of our meal and no one came to clear them. We're convinced they're probably still there now along with the piles of plates and cups that cluttered the bar. We felt that the staff were just trying to get through the shift with minimal interaction with customers rather than keen to provide good service. It's the first time we've been to this Toby Carvery and I know we won't be going back any time soon. No complaints about the food. Just that the front of house left a lot to be desired. The wait staff didn't seem to be checking on tables or keeping up with the general running of the place and the restaurant was half empty. The salt on the tables was near empty and wet inside. We just felt the whole experience was ruined by the service - or lack thereof.
It was okay. No ice in ice machine, run out of horseradish sauce, no vanilla Pepsi Max flavouring. Stephen our server was great. Just felt the restaurant was a little neglected around the edges if you know what I mean, carrots and potatoes on the floor under our table, etc...Food: 3/5
Me and my family enjoyed our food and was having a good time until it came to feeding our baby. For the fact it's a family restaurant they wouldn't help us with warming up our babies bottle and informed us that they wouldn't give us a jug or hot water to warm it up ourselves. So we had to rush out to try and find somewhere else to try and feed our baby. So heads up to anyone with a young baby looking to attend. Just don't you won't be able to feed you baby
As someone with a gluten intolerance, it was nice to have choices of fabulous food. My plate was full of melt-in-the-mouth tasty meat and delicious vegetables covered in fantastic gravy. A real treat- and I'm saying that as a 'not so bothered about roasts' person. Great service and value for money too. We'll definitely be going back.
Food was OK, it seems as if frozen cauliflower was used, and the red cabbage was braised with no other flavouring so was bland. Even at the height of lunch food was not hot. Fudge cake was overheated and a bit crunchy. Hubby said ice cream was good. Service was good and staff pleasant.Food: 3/5
