We went here for the breakfast buffet on my daughter's birthday and had to queue for 15 minutes as there were no plates and none of the staff thought to bring more out from under the counter. People were waiting at the counter for food I understand one of the ovens wasn't working, there were no Yorkshire puddings, sausages, eggs or beans and the mushrooms and what looked like gravy had been left under the heat lamps for so long that they were inedible see photos. When I tried to speak to one of the waitresses, she walked straight past me and said rudely and dismissively "we're working on it". I'm never one to complain normally but this was appalling so I had to ask for a refund. To be fair, the lady who I spoke to about the refund who appeared to be the manager was extremely apologetic and gave us a full refund with no issues. A very disappointing experience as we've been to several other Toby Carverys in the past and they have always been brilliant. We won't be returning here unfortunately.
Good value for evening meals, less so for breakfast. Although advertised that breakfast is until 11, in reality they stop replenishing the food much earlier and from 10.30 there is little variety, so by 11 everything is gone. Tea and coffee are not included. Tables are quite close together and large parties are interspersed with tables for 2 so I would not recommend going here as a couple due to the noise.
The staff are exceptional. They are courteous, professional and friendly. The food looked unappetising. There was food all over the buffet area. The food looked dry and unappealing. I couldn’t get the macaroni cheese to come off the spoon. Even the cauliflower cheese was tasteless. I ate the meat and a few roasted potatoes. This really isn’t a good enough standard.
The outside looks tired with the fence broken down, but inside was clean and tidy. Waited for a little while to be seated and for the waiter to come over. But the staff were really lovely. The food was not very hot at all, by the time you got back to your table it was warm.Food: 2/5
We received a nice welcome, all the staff were wonderful - well presented, polite, helpful and patient. The carvery lunch was perfect and we were delighted with the experience. We were disappointed that there was no cranberry sauce but a minor hitch. Parking: Lots of parking spaces available with a large number offering wheelchair access.
Was having a lovely meal until I found hard black chunks in my Yorkshire pudding that was baked into the batter. Nearly broke my tooth with the bit that ended up in my mouth! When we mentioned it to the waiter he tried to palm us off saying due to the nature of the way the food is served cross contamination is inevitable, even though they were clearly in the batter and had been cooked within the batter, meaning they couldn't possibly have been caused by cross contamination on the serving deck
Nice meal, good service, the staff were very friendly. Not over busy just nice and comfortable there between 5.30&6pm. The meat in the carvery very tender and the sweets very nice and good portion size. I will use again. Vegetarian options: At least one option on menu but didn't really search hard as I enjoy my meat. Kid-friendliness: Saw younger kids there, babies and teens. Parking: Plenty of free parking. Wheelchair accessibility: I believe it is wheelchair friendly with a flat ramp type path to the main entrance and disabled parking closer to the entrance.
We visited the cockleshell recently and we were more than pleased with our evening out. The food was delicious with plenty of choice and lots of it !! The staff were very polite and helpful . We were served by Jess and she is a credit to your business . Server :Jess Raffle number : 206
Enjoyed our meal here on Thursday evening. The 50 per cent off voucher was very welcome. This time the food was very fresh. Also the staff were friendly and efficient.Food: 5/5
Sunday afternoon, place was packed but they still managed to find us a table, with a smile!!!! Food was on point. Loads of meat. Veg cooked well. If i had any gripe it would be the gravy was thin and salt in pots was damp. But hey who cares. Food was lovely. Parking: Loads of parking available
