Had a very good overnight stay just after new year on bbevening meal deal. Excellent value. All the staff were brilliant. The place is quirky having been in use as a inn since 1820s. All the rooms are on the second floor which involves climbing a lot of stairs. The rooms are comfortable and the bathroom we had was big but a little dated but all very clean. Our evening meal was excellent. Looking forward to booking Sunday lunch in the future. The outside areas looked good but it was January and typical Yorkshire weather rain!!!!! Parking: Parked right near the entrance. Would be much busier Inthe summer
Went for a Sunday lunch and had the 3 meat roast the pork was very fatty, there were no pigs in blankets, when the waitress was informed of the two issues there was no response. We then ordered the chocolate fudge pudding only to receive a cheesecake which was very nice..... but. Normally we have a faultless experience but now wondering about returning as it's not the cheapest place.
Visited for a pun lunch on a cold and snowy Saturday in December. Loved the Christmassy pub vibes! The food was more than good enough but nothing special - a few of the steaks ordered on our table weren't cooked as ordered. The staff were great and service in general was great.
We enjoyed a four night break. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Comfy bed, nice clean surroundings, delicious food. To top it off, the staff were lovely, particularly Andy, nothing was a problem. Excellent. Rooms: Clean and comfy. Food & drinks: Good selection, tasty and good value. Parking: Plenty of parking.
We arrived late to a warm welcome. Room was lovely as was the service. Breakfast was delicious and plentyfull. With self service juice, tea, coffee and cereal. Then cooked stuff on order. Great staff who went above and beyond. Would visit again.Food: 5/5
We went for Xmas dinner . Absolute rip off. The beef and turkey were excellent it has to be said, but pigs in blankets, carrot, parsnip all burnt and the lobster thermidor was without any bisque or sauce and came with just a small portion of fries, Pate starter a slab of smooth pate to go with two slices of thin damp bread with a few leaves of rocket, Xmas pudding the size of a small mince pie. The one star I gave was for service but overall never again disgusting what they served for what they charged.
We stayed over for the night and the accommodation was fantastic, highly recommend and will stay again for sure. We had a meal there also and the food was 1st class and really good. Staff were great and really nice atmosphere. I will be back again soon for sure.
Lovely food maybe bit overpriced. Great service and lovely interior decorations. Very warm welcome too. Great as its just on doorstep!Food: 4/5
Worst Sunday dinner I’ve had. Gristly leather like beef, rock hard and dry roast potatoes and rubbery carrots that were like they’d been microwaved a week earlier. If anybody had bothered to ask how the food was I would have had plenty to say about how poor it was. For the high price tag it should have been more than just edible. I most certainly won’t be returning for food. Kid-friendliness: Kids are allowed
Never disappointed. We came to the Malthouse for Christmas dinner, this is probably our 8th time here. Lee the chef is a true professional. The locals are so friendly and this is our favourite place to eat, drink, and sleep within 100 miles of Delph. I can’t big up this place enough and we’ll keep coming back time and time again. Never a bad experience, 11 out of 10 any day. Keep up the great work, and thank you for being such a true and authentic place to eat and drink.
