Story

A traditional English country inn, in the heart of the glorious Devon countryside. Family-run, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and boasting wonderful views, the central location means that most of what Devon offers is within easy reach. Superb food is how the inn originally made it’s name, and diners travel from far and wide to eat here. The inn is open all day, seven days a week. There also are eight letting bedrooms and a spectacular banqueting hall for functions and wedding receptions. The pretty beer garden to the side is perfect for enjoying a peaceful drink on those warm summer evenings. Families are welcome.

Very helpful friendly staff, great place to stay.
This is an amazing place to stay for a few days. The landlady is a total delight. So kind, no words to describe it. The Sunday Roast is a plate we will not forget so easily. The Thelbridge Cross Inn is an iconic landmark in this gorgeous area. Rooms: The rooms have all what you need. The bed is good. Food & drinks: The menu has it all. The Sunday Roast is perfect.
Beautiful pub and great food. Best in the area. We have just had a lovely meal at this pub. Great value and tasty food. Huge portions. Very friendly staff and the pub has a proper pub feel which is so nice. It’s one to beat in the area that’s for certain.
Charming little place to stay on our trip around Devon. Rooms was cosy enough but quite thin walls could hear people in next room quite easy unfortunately. Set in lovely peaceful surroundings though. On arrival it was hard to find anyone about to check in and on checking out again there was no-one to say goodbye too. We ate on one night there and can say the food was great.
We came off route, two moors way and stoped for Sunday roast at Thelbridge Cross. The lady owner as we walked in very cheerful and friendly with bit of banter. We ordered the Sunday roast and it was plentiful and nice with two young pleasant lads serving. We enjoyed the food beer and atmosphere as well as the nice lights by the bar.
We arrived at lunch time and only wanted a light meal as we were dining out in the evening. The staff were lovely and so accommodating and were happy to share a meal between us. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. I particularly liked the minty mushy peas not like mushy peas as you know it but a much superior version. First class friendly service and first class meal.
Booked here for a week for work purposes and ended up booking the week after because I like the place. Food in the restaurant was really good!! Would recommend going here for a meal if you're local. There's a good sports bar to. Rooms are pretty average staff are very friendly. You can also stay in the car park in a campervan with electric hook-up for a small price
This place was a gem of a find, we had a wonderful stay here last Friday. The place is in a beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere. The room was lovely and very reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and helpful & the food was banging. Can't fault this place, if ever ur in the area I highly recommend a visit!Rooms: 5/5
We popped in at 3pm on a Sunday on the off chance. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We ordered two vegetarian dishes from the specials menu and some drinks. The food was good with generous portions. The prices were reasonable for a country pub and restaurant. I would recommend a visit.
Good Pub Food. Great choice of food on the menu, from sandwiches, salads, pasta, fish course to huge Barman's Burger meal. And they're open on Mondays. Staff were friendly, definitely worth a visit if you're in this lovely area of Devon
