Have visited here for a good few years but was back on Saturday the 6th of July to see The Syndicate Play. Lovely historic venue! Very clean and well kept. Only thing I would say was the prices of the snacks and drinks are very expensive but I guess it’s sort of expected. Can’t wait to come back and see another play soon!
Nice outdoor balcony area to enjoy a drink or cool down. I was supposed to have a restricted view at the edge of the front row of the balcony but I found it was a perfectly good view. Only downside for me was £3 for a small bottle of water.
The quality of the operas and valleys I have seen is always great. The theater itself although renovated is inadequate. Not enough sitting space for enjoying a drink before the performance or during the interval, very stale air in the auditorium, and often the disabled toilets are just locked with no warning sign. It would be nice to have a venue which matches the experience from the performance. It is all one package after all.
Small but noteworthy venue. It combines a historical classic theatre with some very modern elements. When in town have a look at what’s on. On my visit I happened upon David McVicar’s production of Traviata, which was exceptional, to say the least.
Show we saw was wonderful, but the theatre itself was amazing. Staff were friendly, toilets were immaculate, and the staircase looked incredible.
Great staff, very comfortable seats and, good view of the stage
Although I've been to Glasgow many times my first visit to the Theatre Royal was in September 2023. Of course the enjoyability of any theatre visit depends a lot on what you're seeing. But I thought this theatre was exceptionally beautiful and a very successful combination of new and old. It's definitely worth a visit in its own right if you can gain access without seeing a show. I hope my photos do justice to the splendid interior.
Great venue, always has been. If it’s a no photo event then don’t have your phone out or a wee woman comes flying down the passage way to stick a “no mobiles” sign in your face.
A warning to anyone sitting in the UPPER CIRCLE - there is 0 leg room!! I sat front row and left with a swollen and bruised knee I'm 5'9. There's nothing online when you book to warn you that the leg room is considerably smaller than any other level although I can't speak for the balcony above, I could see that the dress circle and stalls below had ample leg room. It's a pity because the view from there was perfect. Other than that, the staff are friendly, but food and drink are expensive, and it's very hot inside.
I love this theatre, the best one in Glasgow, so beautiful inside and always offering the best plays, operas, ballet performances and more. My favourite area to sit is the Upper Circle at the front A as it gives you a high point of view of the stage and no one in front. I find the balcony level is a bit too high and gives a bit of vertigo! One thing to notice is the seats are very close together and there is very small leg room, not sure why it was built this way but quite unlucky for people who need the leg room. You can get drinks from the bar and they allow bottles of beer and glasses inside the theatre drinks are quite pricey, though
