Great place to stay if you want somewhere cheap and close to the city centre. But if you want a nice smelling and clean room with decent amenities not my first choice. Hairs on the sheets and marks that maybe fresh or not I'm not sure. The sounds from the local bar and metal stairs that are wet as the access into and out of the building not the safest.
Bar was great, the room not so great. Smelling of old cigarettes and as someone else has said the beds are horrendous..came back into room at end of the night to the smell of a blocked toilet, shut the window as i thought it might have been outside, not so...over rated for 77 quid
A fine pub for a few beers before a performance at the Leeds Grand Theatre across the street. Cask ales on and a few decent lagers. That's all I know, haven't stayed over so can't comment on that. Staff were friendly and it wasn't too busy when I was in.Location: 5/5
Went in before going to the grand. It is well suited for the Grand lots of memoranilia of whats been on at the grand. Had a few drinks and popped in after our show at thr grand theatre. Service was good. All in all would recommend a visitService: 5/5
Really good! nice staff and easy to get in and out! pub downstairs to get drinks from! room was a good size and felt homey. it is loud all night, they supply you with ear pugs!!
I mean, it's fine. It's smack where the fun happens and the staff was absolutely lovely. The rooms are very spacious, cozy looking and we got one of the best rooms available, overlooking the main streets. That being said, the shower was broken an looked like a danger, while using it it made a super strange sound, AC isn't really a thing and we didn't have any towels/soap.
Very noisy, we got no earplugs provided. Bed was terrible it squeaked all night everytime you moved. Hardly any sleep. Room was clean enough but i feel £50 each to put your head on a pillow over night is a little expensive. Even if you do get 15%off the drinks. The staff were pleasant and polite enough.
The Wrens unused to be a regular haunt however I haven’t been in for a few years until last night and what a disappointment it was. The staff were particularly rude and unpleasant. Their lack of social skills was only matched by their complete lack of knowledge regarding the drinks that were available. Visiting the Wrens was a particularly unpleasant experience where I wasn’t made to feel welcome. I will certainly not be visiting again.
Great small hotel, option of a flat w several rooms including well equipped kitchen & separate bathroom. Brilliant location at top of Leeds high street.
THIS REVIEW ONLY APPLIES TO ROOM NUMBER 2 I'm giving an extra star above 1, because staff were absolutely amazing. Positive attitude, and helpful. And that would be it. I have had opportunity to spend a night in the accommodation. As its in town, I wouldn't expect any village silence, obviously people partying, students everywhere. That's acceptable, as its quite obvious when you choose to sleep in town accommodation. Room itself however, was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Lets start with shower, Everyone likes good water pressure in your shower. This one however, is like a pressure jet for cutting stones, and that's not all, there was fan on the ceiling, but not working. So after fighting with blasting showerjet, you coming out straight to 50 degrees sauna. But thats not even the best part. The best part is the radiator placed in the room. It is blasting 75 degrees, ALL NIGHT, no possibility to turn it off. In the room that is 6 sqm, you will feel like a roasted sausage on the hottest day of the year. "why wont you open the window, its chilly, the temp would equalize?" - you may ask, - ah yes, forgot to mention. There are 4 aircon units RIGHT BESIDE THE WINDOW. To conclude, if you hate sleeping, love the buzz, love the bounce, love the bass, and you're eternally cold person, this accommodation is for you I would like to iterate again, that staff were very friendly and helpful.
