We enjoyed 2 nights at The Woodside for a birthday weekend away.nFirst time here and would definitely come back.nAround 50 minutes drive from home we arrived on Friday evening and easily parked in the large car park out front.nChecked in and up to our room on the 1st floor which was nice, spacious and had everything we needed, only one slight niggle was limited hanging space for clothes.nWe booked dinner in the Woodside over the 2 nights which is recommended as it can get busy, there's plenty choice on the menu food and drink wise and all tasty dishes. Staff are attentive and we enjoyed both nights at dinner.nThe restaurant also has the fully stocked bar with plenty seats, after a cold winter walk on Saturday afternoon to the castle and Doune circular we managed to snap up prime position beside the log fire for some afternoon drinks.nBreakfast choices are good, there's a standard menu included in the room rate which is more than adequate, and a further paid menu, we tried both options over the 2 morning's and all good.nOverall a nice and relaxing weekend away, with a bit sight seeing, and good food and drink.
Our recent overnight stay at The Woodside in Doune was fantastic! The complimentary goodies in the room were a thoughtful touch and the room was clean, spacious and easy to access. Dinner was spectacular, with delicious and beautifully presented dishes. Then breakfast was plentiful and freshly prepared, making for a perfect start to our day. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive making us feel very welcome. A truly enjoyable stay with outstanding food and service! Will definitely be returning!
What a find! We really enjoyed our late lunch here. The service, atmosphere, food, and drinks were excellent - and the price more than reasonable.nThey offer a special vegetarian/vegan menu next to their regular one, which my hubby highly appreciated. We'll definitely be back soon!
Lovely lodging at Doune. Complementary box in the room for free. Quiet, clean and warm. Nice staff. Very inspiring place. Parking free. Make the best of you by walking alongside the castle, river and roman fort. Highly recommended.
We stayed here for one night and booked a table at the restaurant. The food, atmosphere and staff were outstanding. I had the lamb, and I can happily say that this was one of the best lamb dishes I have ever had. The portion was on the smaller side, but the flavour made up for it. The next morning our breakfast, too, was delicious with plenty of options to cater for anyone and very helpful staff. I would highly recommend The Woodside!
