My wife and I stayed at Juniper Cottage for a week when we finally took our honeymoon trip. Foolishly, I hadn't made any contact with the property manager between our booking and arrival, so we wandered down a muddy country road at sunset, hoping that the pin on Google Maps would accurately lead us to our destination. We walked right past it. Fortunately, we hadn't gone 100 yards before a gregarious man and his daughter roared up in a jeep saying, "Are you looking for Juniper Cottage? Well you've just missed it! Get in, ye dafties!" Derrick gave us a lift back to the cottage and showed us around. We were delighted: there was a large bathroom with a wide bathtub, a well-appointed kitchen, a comfortable living room with a wood-burning stove and a TV, and then stairs up to a lofted bedroom. Blackout shades on the skylights meant that we could choose a dark sleeping environment or lots of natural light. Everything seemed clean and in good condition, and we loved our week there. One potential downside is that Juniper Cottage is a couple of miles outside Dunblane, and while you can easily catch a train from Dunblane if you want to see Edinburgh or Glasgow, you will have quite a walk from the train station if you're car-less (as we were). Then again, Dunblane itself is a charming town, and there are several good cafes and pubs, as well as a large Tesco and a historic cathedral, so if you're looking for a quiet, charming place to spend a vacation, Juniper Cottage is a great option. Derrick even offered to drive us to the Glasgow airport so we could catch an early flight out of the country when our vacation was over--we would have risked missing our flight if we'd relied on trains and buses. You can't beat the hospitality of Juniper Cottage, and if you need a little rest, it's the perfect place for you!
