This place always exceeds my expectations. Fabulous staff who always go the extra mile. This visit was to celebrate my Mums 81st birthday. We booked on line and requested an easily accessible table. My request was acknowledged but we could choose as at that point they wasn’t too busy. The food and drinks were superb and it made my Mums day when her Chocolate Fudge cake had a candle on! Big thank you guys once again!
I must say I came here a few years back and I swore I'd never return but just wow, the food was amazing, the staff were so friendly. We were that impressed we only came for dinner and stayed there 4 hours. I do think that I'll have to go a further few more times though as it wouldn't be right not trying everything on the menu Go on treat yourself you won't regret it, oh and finally their champagne was excellent. A extremely happy customer.
Not a single soul behind.the bar since 1862........ no fear of getting intoxicated, cheap but dry, try the anvil. Jokes, amazing boozer, staff are fantastic.... when they turn up.
Second time we've been here and we'll what can I say, incredible food again and the staff are always giving a proper clean, tables chairs even cushions, also started to rain outside while having a cigarette the manager came outside with an umbrella for us, now that is service son spilt his coke always one they came straight over cleaned it and replaced the large coke free of charge, this is the best place we have been to by far and will definatly be coming again thanks guys keep up the good work.

Ordered a mixed grill, chick and mix platter and a mac and cheese for mains, gammon was tasteless, steak was over done even though I'd asked for it to be medium, partner said the chicken tasted cheap and wasn't pleasant. The mac and cheese looked curdled and daughter said it wasn't very warm. Ordered deserts and had to chase them up myself 45 minutes after ordering. Apple pie sundae was awful, sour apples not sweet, was meant to have a shortbread crumble but just had a biscuit shoved into the middle, I wasn't the only one to find this desert awful the table next to us ordered 3 themselves and had a bite and said how bad it was. Used to come to the white horse regularly but hadn't been in a while, place was empty, menu is the worst it's been. Spent over £70 and ended up going home and making something to eat to make up for the meal.
Our first Christmas without our dear mom. Nobody felt up to cooking a Christmas dinner, so we chose to eat out for the first time in my life on Christmas day. An already difficult day was made worse by very poor service there were families who came in after us and had all four courses before we even got our 3rd, which we decided not to bother with because they were too busy clearing up to bother offering us! There were no choices of vegetables - just sprouts, red cabbage and very mushy cauliflower cheese - they even served this to children! Roast potatoes which looked like they were the frozen kind, Yorkshire pudding that was rubbery and stodgy, and not offered to children, which greatly disappointed my niece. Pate served with cold toast, and was more like a sauce. Parsnips you could break your teeth on, pigs in blankets with anaemic looking sausages and very fatty bacon that was nowhere near as crisp as every other pig in blanket I've ever had. Desert including custard! was served on a plate and had to be chased around said plate, staff very blasé about how we were treated, and to top it all off, one of the 2 toilets in the ladies was flooded right out of the cubicle and nobody had signed to say the toilets had been checked in the previous 24 hours! In the 2½ hours we were there, not one member of staff went near the toilets, though someone who had been working there at some point in the past day and a half had managed to put a wet floor sign in front of the flooded toilet. And they charge £50 a head for this appalling service and menu choices - I wish we'd bought an Aldi roast in the bag chicken and had a basic Sunday roast. How this place has a hygiene rating of 5 is totally beyond me!!! I can't give 0 stars, so have had to be over generous and score 1 star - not worth it, but that's the only option!
Typical of the Brand. Good quality food, Great children's play area and plenty of TV's for the Sport lovers. Quick service and nice atmosphere. Premier Inn adjacent if you need somewhere to stay.
I am a frequent stayer at the hotel attaché to to the pub once or twice a month for the last 5years and look forward to a usually pleasant meal in the evening. However on this occasion 19-1-23 asking for a meal at 20:35 I was informed that the kitchen was shut as it was January. Dispute being a long term customer no alternate was offed. I am highly disappointed and dissatisfied with the level of information given to the customer as this “new” restaurant opening time could be better advertised. Next mont I will look at eating elsewhere.
Having stayed in the attached hotel, I can honestly say - there must be a relaxed/comfortable working environment. Staff that I interacted with were all smiling, polite and helpful. both evening meal and breakfast were spot on no fried slice - 1* lol . My personal experience was pleasant one.
