Great hotel in a great location. Very easy to find with limited parking available. It is an old building and there is only stairs available to the rooms. These are narrow so if you have some mobility issues it may not be an ideal location.nnOur room was very pleasant and faced east so we got the sunshine rising in the morning. The room was large and the bathroom a good size. Bed was comfortable and spacious.nnCould not fault the staff as they were always pleasant, friendly and had service with a smile and helpful.nnThe breakfast was very good and plentiful with a choice available.nnYou have to book your car in on arrival but you can do this in your room by scanning a code and inputting your details and duration.nnIf we had a criticism it was there was no decaff coffee in the rooms and the bath towels were on the small side.nnThis said I would recommend a stay at the White Hart Hotel.
A very surprising experience.nFrom registering to leaving we were treated to a very pleasant stay. Every member of staff appeared to really care about your experience from the newest to most experienced. Really nice food in a bustling happy environment - a busy establishment and very obviously because everyone is having a superb time.nThe rooms are a little quirky but have everything you want as a home away from home and especially impressive for such an old building, everything was clean and free of dust including exposed timber that must be hundreds of years old!nVery, very impressed and when visiting Witham we will definitely stay here again.
Stayed over for 1 night October 2025 as we were going to a wedding. Had a great stay in the hotel and the food was very good. The problem is the parking. We registered at the reception on the 12th and left on the 13th. We had a hire car. Around 10 weeks later we get a letter from the car hire company saying we had a fine for the 13th when we left. We were told that we had to pay the hire company £60 for getting the ticket.We had to appeal to the parking company EZEE parking. So much stress and anxiety. Nearly Christmas and still not resolved. Great hotel just don’t take a car. Not worth all the hassle.
I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. For the price charged, the experience was far below expectations.nnThe service throughout my stay was poor. Staff were unhelpful when issues were raised, and interactions felt dismissive rather than customer-focused. Unfortunately, the management was particularly rude and unprofessional, which made resolving concerns difficult and uncomfortable.nnThe hotel itself did not justify the high cost. The quality of the room and overall facilities were not what one would expect at this price point, making the stay feel extremely overpriced.nnI chose this hotel based on its pricing and advertised standards, but neither were reflected in reality. This was a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made in service, management attitude, and value for money.
WARNING: Aggressive and racist harassment — non-native speakers at risk! nnHorrible and intimidating experience — never coming back!nnI visited The White Hart in Witham on a cold, windy Saturday night. I very rarely go out — maybe 2 or 3 times a year — so I was just trying to enjoy the evening with a drink and some karaoke.nnWhile taking a few short videos as memories — not targeting anyone — the young man aggressively harassed me, demanding I delete my videos. He behaved in a clearly racist manner, targeting me because I am not a native English speaker. The grey-haired English man, who is the manager, was present, supporting the demand. I was treated as if I were a criminal or a bandit, humiliated and threatened in front of others.nnLater, when I approached the young man outside, in the patio, trying to calmly explain the situation, he stared at me menacingly and said: “You don’t do that in this country.” Their combined behavior was extremely intimidating. I genuinely feared for my safety — it felt like anything could have happened.nnI stayed only a moment longer to calm down, then left immediately and went straight home. I deleted all recordings — I don’t want any memories from this hostile place.nnI’ve attended countless events in London — small and large — and never before has anyone tried to harass, intimidate, or seize my property. Here in Witham, I experienced open harassment, intimidation, and racist discriminatory behavior from both the young man and the manager.nnI regret spending money on drinks — they are not cheap — and my foot will never enter this place again. This incident has been reported to the police for attempted seizure of personal property, harassment, and racist behavior.
