Exceptional breakfast! When you walk in you’re thrown into a cute 1920’s vibe with the elevated glam decor. It’s recommended to have a reservation as they get pretty busy on weekends. With indoor and outdoor seating options this place is perfect for large groups celebrating something or if you’re just looking for a good time. Ate off the brunch menu and it was SO good. I particularly enjoyed the lobster waffles because who in the world has ever had fried lobster and a waffle??? I was shocked and the presentation and the incredible taste. Cooked, seasoned, and served to perfection. The crab here in particular was phenomenal and so fresh! We also had ample mimosas which were quite tasty! Of course we topped off brunch with carrot cake as well and that didn’t fail us!
The theme is lavish casino lifestyle of the 1940s & 50s. The decor, service, & drinks are right on par with that. All were excellent. The food was also good but honestly, it looked better than it taste. Very creative menu writing. I’d come back just for drinks and appetizers. I also enjoyed looking at the details in the decor throughout the space. Even the bathroom with a retro rotary wall mounted phone but the theme was also overwhelmingly… European. Overall I had a good first experience.
This a great place to get dinner or grab drinks with friends! The atmosphere is swanky and yet very fun. The food is well put together and tasty! The desert is also delicious! Outdoor seating is comfortable and not cramped. Service was helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.
Recently went back to The Whale and it did not disappoint. I hadn’t been there since early 2020, but the energy, staff and food still delivers. I had the Lobster Tacos and they were so yummy. The wait staff and the hosts were so kind had great recommendations and seated us quickly. Great spot to take friends when they visit. The decor and atheistic of this place is something special! Great date spot too!
Overall great time. I recommend this place for late dinner and cocktails. Old fashioned was amazing! Really tasty apps. They also offer live music on certain days of the week. The decor is fun…service was excellent. They were really accommodating for my bday reservation. Cake fee was affordable. We had a larger group, I was very satisfied with the experience. Final mention, the bathrooms stalls were very pretty…not sure if that matter to most ppl but I liked it.
- Stellar large group service. We were 6 people and they were so professional from the reservation to the seating. - We had a wonderful birthday dinner and our girl felt really celebrated. - They offer cake service if you bring your own dessert. They put sparklers on it for you - The food is top tier American with twists that leave your taste buds craving for days. We had the chicken wings and buffalo fried cauliflower for starters I don’t know what they put in it but it was so GOOD. I had the Moroccan Turkey Burger with sweet potato fries alongside a cherry mule and it was a heavenly pair. - Parking on Milwaukee was easy and accessible. Can also be a decent walk/bike from the California blue line stop. - Noise level was pretty low Monday night and the vibe was elegant/classy but with a chill seasoning. Definitely a great place for brunch/meeting with friends. Food is delicious and drinks were amazing. They have a mimosa tower it can work among 4 people but I would come prepared to split the cost among four people. Has different menu selections for different diets. Also a really friendly staff, we met the manager and our server was great! Seating was spacious, please make sure your entire party arrives around the same time! Parking on the street may be difficult, come in advance. Will definitely visit again!
Sure the music is loud. Sure it’s crowded as all get out on a Sunday afternoon. Sure it’s trendy and has a bit of a “hipster vibe”. These could be good or bad qualities depending on who you are, but we sat at the bar this time around and it was all worth the wait. Totally different vibe on a Monday evening. The food is ridiculously mouthwatering, the drinks amazing, the bartender we had was super friendly!
this seems to be a popular brunch spot— it would behoove you to make reservations. the mimosa tower was really fun, but not totally sure it’s worth $110. fry sauce was good, waffles served with little bottles of sauce. flavors of the hearts of palm salad seem like they need more balancing, but i still ate the whole thing. coffees are large. it’s a very loud place so it’s hard to hear your friends and have a conversation. but we all had a good time.
I got taken here on a date by my boyfriend to celebrate our Anniversary. Let me tell you, this place has to be on your list for sure! The ambiance is great, the music was a whole vibe and lastly, the food was immaculate! We got the lobster tacos as an app, followed by the Whale Burger and Mac & Cheese. Drinks were spot on too! Parking is tough but be patient, you'll find a spit eventually. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time and amazing food!
