Rather late review of visit on 12.7.24. The best pub in Alvechurch and you don't have to walk far - it's right next to the rail station. Historic canalside pub w/multi room layout, outside seating areas, diverse selection of real ales, ciders and other beers. Was only going to stay for a pint ended up having a few more halves. Friendly and chatty bar person on the day and lots of customers to chat to. Ended up singing 'happy birthday' to one of the kitchen staff. Would recommend a circular pub crawl of Alvechurch and saving this pub for the last. It's about 10 mins walk from the Crown Inn alongside the canal, to get here. The Weighbridge is also the current Redditch & Bromsgrove CAMRA branch pub of the year - 2023
A very friendly and comfortable venue which serves a great selection of well kept ales. Serves bar snacks and traditional hot pub food although not portions of chips on their own. Also serves top quality coffeeFood: 4/5
One of the best real ale pubs I have been to. They always have something of interest on. Check opening times before you go as they are not typical. Space can be a premium in winter when sitting out is not viable.Food: 3/5
Lovely rural canal side pub with a fine selection of ales. Good selection of single malts too. Friendly and welcoming staff. Close to train station, which is very handyService: 5/5
I visited on Saturday 14th Sept 2024 . On my way to Alvechurch football club . I had a couple of good beers & a very nice cheese / onion cob . The staff member who served me was efficient , pleasant & helpful . A cracking , quaint pub & one which I highly recommend . I will visit again one day .Food: 5/5
As usual great for beers and freindly atmosphere - had food for the first time which tasted great and was a large portion too It’s worth noting that they were only taking food orders if you’d previously booked a table! So if you want food, ring up in the day and book that in Vegetarian options: Had 2 veggie options out of about 10 meals - all same price. 2 options were spinach and ricotta cannelloni, and sweet potato and chickpea curry. Couldn’t tell you if the curry was vegan tho!
I would have added a photo of the food, but ate it too quick. Cheese cobs. Pork pies. Good beer. Friendly staff. Food: 5/5
An excellent and very well run beer festival today with friendly staff and a good selection of ales , ciders and craft beer at a reasonable price. And unlike Camra they manage to do this without charging an increasingly exorbitant entry fee.
Great real ale pub by the canal , I'm sure it would be lovely on a warm summer's evening. We went in February for the Wassail which was great fun & very well attended.
Well this is a unique pub sitting right on the canal in Worcester and Birmingham Canal. There is an extensive outdoor area which was well put to use when we were there as it was quite warm. Inside the pub is made up of a few very small rooms, each with there own character leading to the bar which, again, is quite tiny - so be prepared to share your space and let people through where you can so we can all get served and get back out to enjoy the sun. There were a few 'boat people' I really have no idea what one calls the people who live on the canal boats in the bar area and they were very welcoming happy to chat about all and sundry. The staff, although few in number, were also very efficient and friendly. The Robinsons of Tenbury Flagon Cider was superb as was the Oakham Brewery's Citra.
