Absolutely brilliant! The staff were amazing - made us feel so welcome and the food was delicious. Great evening : We were quite loud as we were in good spirits after one of our party did the marathon, and it was the perfect setting to eat lots of food and have good conversation with friends. Thank you for your hospitality!!
Visited Verandah on Saturday night after watching rugby Glasgow V Edinburgh. We had a faboulous dinner. The flavors were tremendous and the dishes were perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff was very friendly. We will be back very soon - would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Went there tonight was the worst Indian I have ever had which is bad considering I spent nearly 10 years working there !! Starter poor quality main could not make a simple dish like "butter chicken" I sent it back and ordered a jalfrazie instead which was still mediocre !! also overpriced for substandard food. Shri Bheemas is an Indian in Edinburgh which I and my partner would rate 5 stars, I would recommend which is also reasonably priced.
Very poor quality food, I had stomach ache 10mins after the meal. Poor hygiene, glasses stacked on shelf next to the toilet. The meal was highly overpriced, scanner not working for vouchers, card machine not working, even toilet wasn't flushing. The only thing functional were services rendered by the waiters, hence the 1 . Please note the pictures on the website doesn't reflect the true images of this restaurant..very substandard. I will not be going back.
We have had one of the best Indian meals we ever had. An excellent choice/selection of vegetarian food - loved the Thali ! I have always wanted to have a meal like this with lots of selection, but have never yet found anywhere else that does this . Attentive Staff, though not intrusive . Good, relaxed vibe to the restaurant. We wish Verandah was in Sheffield ! Thankyou.
We weren't sure if Verandah was actually open, as there seemed to be no movement behind the windows, despite this being the day of a Hearts home match and a Scotland home international rugby match. Still, emboldened by the sign on the door which reassured us that they were indeed open, we went inside, and were very glad that we had. Great mango lassis, amazing thali dishes ... this was authentic Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, presented in an unprepossessing but delicious way. Why it wasn't heaving on that Saturday, I have no idea ... but it should be! Well worth a visit.
Arrived at this indians with good expectations from previous reviews however when our meals the chicken Tika massalam and what ever on earth i got arrived. It took 10 minutes until our rice turned up. I complained our food would be cold by this point so they "warmed it up" I think with a freezer so once we got everything the tika was nice no arguments but what ever the waiter recommended to me to be not spicy as I have ibs was probably the equivalent of vindaloo so hot. We received a sorry but nothing else. Bill was expensive for what we got once I asked twice for it for this reason I have rated my experience low. Even once mentioned that the experience was not satisfactory. I got a blank look off waiter and I sorry look. Thanks for a meal
We ordered a delivery and we were very disappointed. The chicken tikka masalam was chunks of dry meat swimming in a bland sauce, same with the korma. The sag aloo was mushy and over cooked. The mixed starter was dry and tasteless. Surviving on it's reputation 20+ years ago!
We were visiting Edinburgh last month and found this restaurant one evening. What a fabulous find. We have eaten in Indian restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Prague and London. I can truly say that this is up at the top of our experiences. The sauces were excellent and the lamb delicate and succulent. The breads were right out of the tandoor and crisp on one side, soft on the other. Probably the best naans I have ever had. i wish we had found it on day one so that we could have gone every night.
Arrived late, very very accommodating. Produced a quality meal and looked after us intently. Quality of food very high here, though it was the end of then night so the restaurant was quiet. Johnny scores a 9. Definitely worth a shout x
