The Unicorn is a good solid Robinsons pub. Great outside area at the back and dog friendly. We visited at the end of a very busy mother's day. Lamb shank was a winner and the fish and chips was average. Staff are very friendly. Pub is looking a little tired but a friendly atmosphere
Brilliant service, even when there was only one member of staff working Dean he was really friendly and attentive. The food was really lovely and fresh. I'd definitely come back again. Only reason I've put 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was a little cold in the pub.
Fantastic food, warm welcome from dean & Brandon. Had the gammon it came with a black pepper rub, absolute genius from chef Dan. Truly deserves a 5* review. all in all a lovely afternoon of food & drink. Well done guys we will definitely be back.
I haven't been for a number of years, but it has been extended several times and they have made a nice job of it, they had a reasonable selection of beer/ales I had an IPA well kept, we stopped by on our way back home to Macclesfield so we placed our order 1 kids sausage and chips with sweet corn 10 chips, 2 sausage, corn on the cob the sausage were nice, my wife ordered chickpea curry balti dish of the curry a naan bread, and a poppadom very nice I ordered the Katsu curry chicken the chicken itself was nicely done however for some reason it arrived drowned in a cheap chip shop curry sauce with a strong thickener background flavour, and oddly enough chips were added to the dish the dish was spoiled by both chips and the substitute sauce, the rice was nice so being very hungry I separated the offending items see pic we were asked if the meal was ok and I explained that mine was not and we had eaten in Wetherspoons the night before and my wife had their Katsu curry and it was far better, I was offered something else but I declined as it was late for lunch and we wanted to get home, we would eat there again but I would choose something different.
Ticks every box. Good size pub, lots of varied seating areas, large back patio. Large choice of food Typical Greene King menu well cooked. Friendly and attentive staff - good service. Wide range of drinks available. Sky sports TV Screen and Pool table in one back area doesn't affect the rest of the pub
First time visiting this pub after driving past for many years Decent beer, all sport on, cheap and tastey food Nice outdoor area and plenty of parking
Pleasant staffs and me and my family had a lovely meal. Definitely recommend.
In short, not enough staff resulting in long wait times and the 4 different meals which our table ordered were either undercooked or very dry. For people looking for a sports pub for a drink and a catch up, it might be alright. But unless there's a change in ownership or management we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend for a meal. On arrival, there's plenty of parking, all tables are well spaced and there's an area for check-in for COVID restrictions. After that not a single staff member wore any masks or visors. There was a single one-way sticker on the floor as you enter and no other directions regarding how to navigate through the building so was a bit of a free for all. There's plenty of choice on the menu and the prices look pretty reasonable. We ordered 6 meals, 4 different dishes and we waited for well over 90 minutes, probably because they only had a small number of waiting staff working. I had the Chick Pea Curry Banquet which was OK at best and the bhajis were undercooked with uncooked batter in them. The naan was hard in parts as though it was stale, other than that it was alright. Other people had Sunday roasts which they said the meat was dry and the majority was left. Inside the decor was dated and not in a quaint way. The men's toilets were also extremely filthy and the smell was awful, it was clear they hadn't been cleaned in a while. The atmosphere inside was definitely old pub style with sports on the TV and 90s music playing the whole time.
What a lovely day we had at the unicorn pub. Delicious food and a great atmosphere for my mums 88th birthday with 30 guests. Most of all the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Congratulations guys you made our day
Love this pub. Staff are super friendly and attentive, food is great and always a nice atmosphere. Outside area is brilliant through the summer.
