Just been and had a lunchtime meal in the Turnpike, superb pub food with a nice atmosphere and very pleasant and helpful staff.nI had the tomahawk pork and can highly recommend it.nIt was cooked to perfection, my partner had the sirloin steak and again perfectly cooked.nWashed down with a pint of Doombar absolute bliss.nWe will be back!!
We waited 45 minutes for our meal. After 30 mins the waiter politely told us it was a 45min wait and because we ordered on the app it doesn't tell you.nWhen the food eventually came, the chips were cold the steak was overcooked. The staff did not ask how the meal was, as normally in food places they do. Obviously they know how bad the food is!! Drinks were also cold. But because they do warm milk and not hot that was the reason!nA woman beside us actually ordered her meal twice as she waited that long she didn't think she ordered!nMy heart goes out to the staff, as it doesn't look like there were enough!!nPlease don't waste your money!!nOr at best just order a drink!! cold one
Had lovely meal with my friends. fair prices, attentive staff and great place to spend your time would recommend.
Went here last Saturday with a view to using the 'restaurant'. There was only one member of staff on the bar taking orders for both food and drinks. We waited for around 10 minutes to be served, only to be immediately told there was a minimum 45 minutes wait for food. Not off to a great start. The guy serving at the bar seemed disinterested and made no particular attempt to appear friendly. We then tried to order fish and chips, to be told in a rather monotone and unapologetic fashion that they had run out. This was around 1:30pm so odd that they would not have additional staff on a Saturday and that they would not have stock of what one would assume is a popular meal. We left and travelled up to the Crofter's instead, another nearby and far superior Sizzling Pubs restaurant. A poor experience all round.
Decided to give this place another go. And I am really disappointed the fish and chips was cheap enough but was like tying to eat a piece of leather but after a hard day's work was so hungry. Ate what I could, the mushy peas was like green water as you can see from my pic! Not once was I asked about my meal which tells me, the staff new how bad it was that day. Not nice to have to leave a negative review but money is tight at the moment
