Have just read some of the reviews!! And must say I am shocked by some!! This is a great little shop and serves the village with all we could wish for. As for the staff they are all a great team and cannot do enough. If by saying "Grey haired lady" you are referring to Wendy she is one of the kindest girls ever and cannot do enough, bending over backwards to make sure we have all we need especially in lockdown she works very hard and always has a smile and lovely welcome and is a huge asset not only to the shop but to the village where she helps people whenever she can. My husband and his work partner often gets sandwiches and says they are wonderful ! Keep up the great work Wendy and the team .
I often stop by this little store on my walks as it’s usually where I set off from, the store is a credit to its owner and you can really see that they have put so much effort into it, the sheer amount of stock in a small space can be overwhelming at first, but it really shows that they’re providing as much as possible for a rural community, where many residents are elderly or unable to get to conventional supermarkets, it is a great legacy to the owners family history and is something to be incredibly proud of. However, it is not without its flaws, the female shop worker with the short grey hair has been nothing but rude to me every single time I’ve been in, talking to other customers that she so clearly knew and ignoring me, providing me with frankly miserable sandwiches and in general being quite unpleasant. However I have also been served by 2 blonde ladies and a younger brown haired gentleman, all extremely pleasant and helpful, so I guess it’s just the day you happen to visit.
Really disappointed on Wednesday we called and bought two lovely sandwiches from a lovely dark haired lady so impressed we called back again today Friday after a very long walk ordered the sandwiches when we opened them they were in the wrong bread no salad and thrown together hardly any filling. I decided not to go back as the grey haired lady was so unfriendly and not very approachable. I regret not complaining. But felt it would do me no good as she was abrupt.
Another stop at the TopShop for a stunning ham and cheese roll plus a cracking COFFE!
This is a wonderful shop. It has an amazing variety of stock and great good value sandwiches. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It is an absolute asset to the village.
Called in yesterday for a browse as staying at cote ghyll. I was put off by the assistant older lady short grey hair. No greeting I asked if it was ok to have a browse and if they sold sachets of condiments, a blunt no. I felt my presence wasn't wanted. Trip to Northallerton for what I needed.
This little village shop has almost everything you need and will make efforts to source goods if not. The owners are friendly and obliging. In the hot weather it is beautifully cool.
A perfect small shop that has joined the 21st Century! Cashless payments only, so you have been warned. I got some wonderful scones while doing a volunteer task in the area and was surprised by the good selection of brad they have. It may be the only shop in the village, but it is not just for local people.
Visited yesterday, bought a freshly made sandwich with my own choice fillings. Very reasoable, clean and accommodating. As most places at the moment only took card payments. Cannot believe I've never visited before now as my family and I go to Osmothery quite a lot. Will visit again soon
Called in for last two days to pick lunch up for 4 of us it been fantastic both day and the staff are extremely helpful
