"Established in 1985, and located on Princess Square, The Tannin Level is one of the best loved restaurants in Harrogate. Renowned for its wines as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation as one of Harrogate’s foremost independent restaurants. The 90 cover Restaurant is very spacious and is spread over 3 elegant dining rooms each of which encompass cosy corners and alcoves, perfect for a romantic meal for two, whilst the largest dining room can cater for parties of up to 30 diners. Our food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, and we use only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible, and every component of every dish is made from scratch by our Chefs right here in our kitchen."

Exceptional food. Visited this week and wow. Yorkshire on a plate is 100% achieved here. We love fine dining and this was well up there. Cannot wait to go back. Service was fantastic, lovely people, superb portions. The trio of pork was out of this world....no exaggeration!! You must visit, parking is easily accessible across the road and free of an evening. Love love love!
It wasn't my first, or last, visit to the Tannin Level. It's a well established restaurant, with a great reputation. The atmosphere has an almost romantic feel, with thoughtful lighting throughout. Despite being on the lower ground floor, it felt spacious. However, it can get a bit loud when it's busy. Service was friendly, professional and mostly efficient. I really liked the menus. There's focus on in season produce and with local provenance. There were clearly marked vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. The food was delicious and well presented. I really appreciated the balance of flavours and textures. I felt the portion sizes were about right. Having a simple option like fish and chips on the evening menu would have been welcomed. Vegetarian options: There were a few vegetarian options and certainly one vegan option per course. They are clearly marked on the menu. Kid-friendliness: I wouldn't consider it a kid friendly restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the lower ground floor of a building, so there are steps to enter.
Fairly unpretentious. Front of house staff good, but the waiting staff would benefit from a bit more training and experience; they're trying hard though! Food is good and a nice selection of reasonable wines. It's not fine dining but it's honest dishes done well. Will definitely be back as it's the best we've found in Harrogate so far and we've been trying hard!
Thank you so much for a lovely evening on Saturday. The food was excellent and your staff so friendly and helpful. We will certainly come back the next time we are in Harrogate and would recommend you to any friends visiting.
Great decor and great food. I could have picked at least three starters and three mains. The staff were very good - the hospitality industry being as it is at the moment, you could see they were rushed off their feet but still provided an excellent service.
Fantastic food. We all had starters, mains and afters from the a la carte menu. All the dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The whole meal including wine and service charge came to a little over £50 per head which is very reasonable imo given the quality of the food. Definitely would recommend.
A very good fine dining establishment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good choice of wine also. The sharing starter was the star of the show with the mini fish and chips being my favorite. The beef main course was very tasty and my wife enjoyed the chicken. Going to mark it down slightly as the chicken and beef were a little dry on the outside. But I'd still go back, I need to try the puddings next.
Saturday January 21st 6 of us dined for my birthday celebration absolutely faultless for all. Special chocolate fondant was divine. Special thanks to Sam Simon and even Elle in her absence. She suggested I request the special desert when I reserved the table. Over an 80mile round trip for us but well worth it. My favourite restaurant !
Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, and will visit again when I'm back in the area.
Popped in for Sunday Lunch. Wasn't expecting to get a table at that time of the day but a very nice gentleman showed us to our table. We both opted for the Pork dinner and must say it's probably the best Sunday dinner we have ever had eating out. Amazing staff . Nothing was too much trouble and we were looked after very well. The poached pear and berry tart was to die for and a great way to round off our first experience at this restaurant. Well done to all at The Tannin Level and keep up the good work and the exceptional customer service. Mr and Mrs Mason Vegetarian options: Nothing to say as we opted for a meat option
