As a real home away from home, we have great pub grub and a wide range of drinks. From our traditional mains to the grill, right down to the children’s menu, there’s always something to take your fancy. And the fun doesn’t end there. Beautiful outside eating area with wooden picnic type tables and chairs but no umbrellas stands were there we sat in a shaded spot but betime we had finished the meal we were in 32°full sunshine. I had hunter's chicken with chips and side salad just could have done with a bit more sauce in a jug. My husband had fish and chips served with mushy peas which he said was a bit dry the fish was huge and very tasty. Other than that can still recommend it
Reasonable place for a pint and some pub food. However, there wasn't much to choose in ale department only one ale available.
Really nice place! You can sit outside and listen to the calming sounds of the river or sit inside and socialise, whatever you prefer! The food was amazing, delicious, heavenly. The drinks were quickly served and the waitress was lovely!
We love this pub as it is one of the few in the area that does an extensive gluten free menu. One of the kids is celiac and she always has a great choice here. Plates all clean and food lovely as always. Staff are always lovely and friendly and nothing too much trouble.
Perfectly good food nothing fancy but well prepared pub grub classics at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff. Only minor quibble would be low sun shone in through conservatory window making my partner a bit uncomfortable.
We have been to the Sump several times before and particularly like the great setting next to the river, the reasonable prices and friendly relaxed atmosphere. On this visit we all wife, son and I had starters main course and desserts. The food was nice and tasty, certainly no complaints but could perhaps have been presented a little better e.g no salad leaves or dip with my cauliflower wings starter. However we had a nice seat in the conservatory and enjoyed our visit, we will certainly be back again in the future. The young waitress who served us was polite, attentive and quick and seemed to be working hard.

Had a fabulous meal yesterday at the New Menu Launch. The Mixed Grill was amazing, the staff were brilliant as always. Highly recommend.
Lovely pub, very clean. Friendly bar staff. Good choice of drinks and good food. Lovely outdoor seating right by the river and weir. All Covid rules are in place and a very safe and secure environment. We will definitely be back.
