Story

Voted No. 1 Gastropub 2010 in the Pub Chef Awards, The Star is known for its modern Yorkshire style of cooking using the best seasonal ingredients. Accommodation is available at Cross House Lodge, its 8-bedroomed boutique hotel, and at Black Eagle Cottages, whilst The Corner Shop offers delicatessen products, including some made by the restaurant's kitchens as well as a stylish range of gifts.

Very nice location and food, cosy warm modern interior seating, sunny exterior terrace overlooking the river. Great menu, with wine recommendation against each dish. The food is high quality, tasty, presented attractively. Good service and availability of tables. We visited at Xmas, nice Xmas tree and fireplace too.
My husband and I went for a dinner and we had a three course meal. Starter and mains were absolutely delicious. Dessert was not as good as the other two courses. We enjoyed our time and quality service.
Perfect for a business lunch. Just had main courses Lamb Rump and Dover Sole. Both great dishes but the Lamb flavours were amazing!! I can still taste it now 6 hours later!! Definitely recommended
