You’ve just passed a great pub! Is the sign I have driven passed at least five times before I figured out what was coming up and pulled in. After 2:00pm on a weekday but the full menu was available with only one dish missing form ‘dishes of the day’. Lots is space in doors abs out, ample parking, good for groups, friends or family - or in my case lunch!
Wow. The food here is wonderful. The portions are big so be prepared. Even the starters were massive. Lovely outdoor area too and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Bright and friendly pub with a restaurant, serving good homemade food at a reasonable price. Turned up without reserving a table and we were well accommodated. Generous food portions, so much so that disappointingly I could not manage a desert. Would definitely go back when I next visit Battle on business.Food: 5/5
Accommodating staff who are a credit to this venue. A very broad menu, which offered something different to most which was a pleasant surprise. Started with the Sussex smokie and poached egg done to perfection then on to the liver and bacon again, couldn't fault it. I rocked up without a reservation, but it could well be worth booking as it always seems a popular venue I drive past on the commute and it always seems busy on fair weather days . Would definitely recommend, and fully intend on another visit on a day when we are not experiencing flash flooding to check out the outdoor seating.
I haven't been here for a while and it's been decorated since my last visit - the restaurant looks beautiful inside! We had a Sunday roast, which was delicious, meat cooked perfectly and great portion sizes for the kids meals as well! Great service, friendly staff, overall it was great, we will definitely be going back!Food: 5/5
We come here every year when we are camping nearby. It's easy to walk to and the outside playground keeps the kids entertained while the adults can chill with a drink and chat. Service is reasonable, as is the drinks choices. Great little country pub for a lunchtime visit. A bit of shade in the play area wouldn't be a bad thing.
Lovely food and well looked after. We regularly eat here when on our family holiday to Hastings would highly recommend.
Good Sunday roast with good selection of drinks and food. The menu on Sunday is a standard Sunday roast with all the choices. I had beef and lamb and it came with a Yorkshire pudding and plenty of vegetables. Was a decent meal and didn't even finish my plate there was a lot. Would recommend making a reservation and they took Covid19 very seriously with good tables and staff clearly cleaning and good social distancing. Good value too lovely garden if it's sunny!
The best Roast dinner EVER!!! There was not one thing I could fault with the food or the service. Defo 10 out of 10.
Four of us had lunch here today. Great daily menu, viewable on-line. Two of us chose from the daily specials - the pie with home-made shortcrust pastry was beautifully prepared and cooked - our other choices too. Lovely location, atmosphere and service. Really in a different league, food-wise. Booking advisable.
