So glad we found this lovely Chinese restaurant a couple of years ago. Great food very friendly and polite staff and quiet. Honestly a great place to eat.
Tried for the first time as takeaway - Excellent quality, fresh and full of flavour without being uncomfortably spicy. Plenty of veggie options as well. 3 full veggie menus was a bit too much for a family of 2 adults + 2 kids 11 & 8 but we totally enjoyed it, even our kids who aren't usually keen on Chinese cuisine. Next time we'll probably opt for 2 full menus and 1 small extra dish. We certainly will order again!!
Below is my original review and just updating as continually impressed by food and service and that speaks volumes as so often you can return to a restaurant and it not be so good BUT ALWAYS the same high standard and excellent friendly service at The Square Chinese. I honestly think some of the more negative reviews have been put against the wrong restaurant. I eat here at least twice a year and I am very fussy about food quality and standards. This is superb Chinese food and always consistently good with superb flavours and presentation. Excellent service from the lovely friendly staff, manager Maggie and waitress Ona. The atmosphere is so relaxed and food so good that we normally take at least an hour and a half for our lunch and always look forward to our next visit. I am so surprised by some of the poor reviews, that I wonder if they have been put against the wrong restaurant.
Dry, salty, bland food. On the expensive side. No sauce to counteract the dryness of everything. Did not even manage more than a few mouthfuls before instinct kicked in and we stopped eating. The place was completely dead when we collected too so no excuses there! Staff were very friendly but didn't attempt to complain as there is signage everywhere saying they refuse to refund takeaway food, should have taken that as a warning.
A firm family favourite of ours! By far one of the best Chinese restaurants we've been to! Been many times and it never fails to disappoint. Maggie and the team are so lovely and welcoming and the food is consistently fantastic. See you again soon
We had the mixed starter platter, the only good bit was the chicken satay, the other items were very bland and disappointing. The second course was the crispy duck which was good, just the right amount of pancakes and sliced spring onions. The main courses were average at best with not enough flavour or depth to the dishes. Maybe they need to add MSG to make it more palatable? I'm sure this place was better when we've been there in the past but this time it was just very dull.
Best Chinese in Wimborne, and probably the only one, but good food and friendly service. Just keep going back... If Chinese food is what floats your boat then the food here is great, its fresh and very tasty and the service is excellent. Probably one of my favourite places to eat... Don't tell the holiday makers... Reserve the good food for us local people!
We ordered a take out for 5, 3 days in advance. We picked our order up and sent two people to collect it, NOT necessary! Tiny portions! And quite costly. One of the dishes we ordered was the mixed meat crispy noodles, well we got a dish of veg, 3 prawns and soft Singapore noodles..very disappointing. Almost £50 spent, just about fed 5. Will definitely not go back.
Returning visit, this restaurant never fails to impress, very tasty food, plenty of options, great service from friendly and attentive staff, all at a fair price. Another positive, kitchen does NOT use MSG so no unwelcome headache the next morning. Good "access all areas".
Living in Wimborne all these years . This is a hidden gem within the heart of our town . A warm welcome awaits you and there is a fabulous upstairs Al fresco in the summer i never even knew about . A fantastic variety of well known dishes all served by the attentive staff. I loved the shredded duck and seaweed as usual. I was spoilt for choice. The meal was a eating pleasure ! With a beautiful carved bird made out of a carrot !!! As an unprompted, thoughtful adage. ....and it wasn't even a special occasion. Good value , made to feel special, whatever day of the week . Highly recommended . I'm going back soon ! Situated in the courtyard near Costa Coffee
